As the Senior Product Manager, you will lead the strategy and execution for our Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) and Identity Fraud Prevention platforms, ensuring millions of customers can securely and effortlessly access Xero and our ecosystem of connected 3P apps.
  • In this role, you’ll drive innovation in identity, authentication/authorization, and fraud detection, balancing security with a frictionless user experience. You’ll shape the future of passwordless authentication, SSO, adaptive security, and AI-driven fraud detection, working closely with engineering, data, and design teams. You’ll also work closely with 3P services and shape the strategic direction of the next horizon in identity and security.

  • What You'll Do:
  • Actively network across Xero to understand how products fit into Xero's strategy, objectives.
  • Work directly with the customer to conduct research, collect insights or validate understanding, getting support from the broader product function as required. Use customer data and insights particularly in assessing value and viability risks, to inform product roadmap and planning.
  • Define the scope of the customer problem and frame possible solutions to test, validate and refine with the support from relevant team membersBuild strong relationships with the broader product function’s teams, collaborating effectively with your internal stakeholders.
  • Planning in developing a strategy for the product line, including securing funding, resourcing.
  • Take an active role in the annual and quarterly OKR process, with support from product leadership Take responsibility for managing risks (in line with Xero Risk Management Standard) arising from non-functional concerns including security, privacy, regulatory change and compliance, accuracy, responsible data use and availability: consulting with stakeholders and leading trade-off decisions.
  • What You'll Bring With You:
  • Identity Experience (everything directly related to customer journeys around setting up, using and changing user authentication), mainly: MFA Account Settings, SSO.
  • Login: Every Xero user of any product that uses authentication (almost all of them).
  • MFA: All Xero users except domain enforce SSO usersSSO - client portal: very large practices that have their clients access Xero via a portal they provide (eg, Azets, in the future BDO) SSO - domain-enforced.
  • SSO: medium to large practices that have managed IT and need the additional security and reduced admin of controlling access to Xero via their own Identity provider.
  • SSO - social sign-on: small to medium businesses that value convenience of access for them or their staff.
  • Stakeholder Management.
  • Relationship management (stakeholders & critical customers).
  • Domain enforced and client portal SSO delivery and rollout involves direct engagement with many of our largest most valuable customers, plus our sales and country teams.
  • Sign-on involves engagement with our dotcom and mobile teams to help enable goals around improving conversion through reduced sign up friction.
  • MFA involved supporting relationship management of govt/tax and standards authorities to meet compliance needs, often on a limited timeline, working via our product compliance team
  • Managing conflicting goals to walk the line between friction reduction and improved security so that growth opportunities can be explored and delivered on while maintaining or improving the security posture of Xero and our customers.
