đ Software Ate The World
In 2011 Marc Andreesen, creator of Netscape Navigator and Venture Capitalist co-founder of a16z wrote a piece in the Wall Street Journal titled "Why Software Is Eating The World". Ten years later it's clear he was right. Companies in this list are handling payments, background checks, self driving cars, healthcare, shipping, trucking and commerce. These days it's hard to find an industry that has not been reshaped by software. One thing that remains to be seen is if government regulation will catch up to regulate software companies as some of them march toward monopoly and destroy competition. America thrives when competition is fair. All of these companies have raised hundreds of millions of dollars from financiers and with that should come some responsibility and public scrutiny.
