About the Team

The Devices Hardware Engineering team is responsible for the the design and validation of the electronics in our streaming players, remotes, and IOT products. We are involved from proof of concept to mass production, working closely with cross functional teams to deliver high quality products. As a key member, you will be responsible for validating new hardware, performing failure analysis, automating test procedures, and contributing to sustaining efforts. 

 

About the Role

As a Hardware Validation Engineer, you will play a key role in testing and validating new product designs. You will be responsible for developing test automation to streamline the process and continually improve testing efficiency and quality. This role requires a strong blend of technical EE knowledge, expertise with a range of test equipment, and ability to automate tasks using python and other scripting languages. The role will partner closely with EE team members, along with cross functional teams including mechanical and software engineering and QA.

This position will be located at our office in San Jose, California and will report to the Manager, Devices Hardware Engineering. 

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $145,000 and $160,000 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with design and production teams, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and program management
  • Conduct basic PCB rework
  • Perform new PCB bring-up and testing
  • Develop test plans
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues
  • Utilize lab equipment

 

We're Excited If You Have

  • 3+ years of hardware validation experience in embedded system design
  • Experience executing hardware qualification tests, including board bring-up, debug, and failure resolution
  • Experience with high-volume consumer electronic products
  • Develop and execute scripts to control custom hardware, automate testing, and perform data acquisition
  • Participate in root cause analysis of outlier results. Communicate findings and recommendations
  • Proficiency in schematic and PCB layout tools. Ability to evaluate with an eye for Design for Testability (DFT)
  • Proficiency with tools such as high-speed scopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, audio analyzers, and thermal chambers
  • Report on findings, reduce test data, and investigate test outcomes thoroughly
  • Strong technical skills and experience with schematic design, PCB layout, power delivery, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, thermal analysis, and ESD
  • Understanding of set-top boxes, audio products, cameras, and consumer products is a plus
