Job description

At Zoox, we’re redefining mobility by building an autonomous ride-sharing experience that’s safe, efficient, and unlike anything on the road today.

We’re not just building a car, we’re redefining human mobility. By developing an autonomous ride-sharing experience that is safe, efficient, and entirely reimagined, we are creating unique vehicles that will shape the future of transportation for generations to come. As a Staff Vehicle Attributes Engineer, you’ll work alongside world-class experts in robotics, controls, and vehicle engineering to bring this vision to life.

You will sit at the heart of our Vehicle Integration team, leading attribute team, serving as a technical linchpin between vision and execution. You won't just be managing requirements, you will be driving cross-functional decisions and resolving critical issues alongside department and engineering leadership to ensure our platform is world-class.

In this high-impact role, you will:

Be the Outward Voice: Act as the primary representative for Vehicle Integration during high-stakes program reviews and in collaborations with inter-departmental customers.

Lead with Authority: Work alongside world-class experts in robotics, controls, and vehicle engineering to champion every element of the Zoox experience.

Define Excellence: Ensure every vehicle meets the highest possible standards for performance, comfort, and safety, bridging the gap between complex technical constraints and an uncompromising passenger experience.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead cross-functional vehicle attribute teams (e.g., vehicle dynamics, NVH, thermal, energy, safety, ergonomics) to deliver key program milestones for Zoox’s next-generation autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Define the vehicle performance of Zoox’s next-generation autonomous vehicles to meet program requirements.
  • Partner closely with Attribute Leads to define development plans, align priorities, and ensure seamless execution across engineering disciplines.
  • Champion strategic decision-making by balancing performance, cost, mass, safety, and timing to achieve optimal balance and integration of vehicle attributes
  • Deliver performance targets, identify gaps, and drive data-based root cause analyses and resolution plans
  • Prepare and present attribute status updates for program reviews and leadership gates, ensuring risks and trade-offs are clearly communicated
  • Drive initiatives such as defining and developing test assets and methodologies to validate vehicle-level requirements
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Engineering
  • At least 10+ years of experience in vehicle attribute development or integration
  • Deep technical understanding of vehicle systems, validation, and cross-functional integration
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive decisions, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience leading and guiding a vehicle development program
  • Skilled in data analysis, documentation, and reporting; proficiency with Smartsheet, Jira, and Google Workspace
  • Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience in Technical Program Management
  • Experience in electric or autonomous vehicle development preferred
  • International Relocation Requirement (Foster City, CA, USA)
This role is initially based in the UK, with a mandatory requirement to relocate to Foster City, California (San Francisco Bay Area) after 12 months. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining valid US work authorization and visa eligibility. Company visa sponsorship and relocation assistance details will be provided during the interview process.
