Job Description

Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services everyday and local businesses thrive. To date we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms uniquely committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis.

Groupon is on a radical journey to transform our business with relentless pursuit of results. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. The impact here can be immediate due to our scale and the speed of our transformation. We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact.

🚀 Our UI is a patchwork—different teams ship different button styles, and inconsistencies hurt our user experience and conversion. We need someone to take ownership and drive true, lasting consistency across Groupon’s frontend.

đŸ§‘đŸŒâ€đŸ’»What You'll Own:

  • Build, maintain, and scale Groupon’s central design system (think: production-ready React components, tokens, and up-to-date documentation)
  • Create and optimize reusable React components (with Tailwind CSS & Storybook) that actually get adopted by teams
  • Champion consistency, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), and quality across products—without becoming the design police
  • Collaborate closely with designers (Figma), frontend engineers, QA, and PMs to deliver a unified UI vision

🔎Must-Have Skills:

  • 3+ years production React component library experience
  • Advanced Tailwind CSS (beyond basics), Storybook, and Git proficiency
  • Can easily switch between code and Figma—communication and teamwork across design & engineering
  • Experience improving adoption of design systems across multiple teams
  • Strong accessibility knowledge (WCAG 2.1 AA)

đŸ„łNice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with e-commerce, marketplace, or large-scale consumer apps
  • Tailwind config & performance tuning chops
  • Some design/UX background

🏆What Success Looks Like:

  • Month 1: UI audit complete, first quick wins shipped
  • Month 3: Core components live, 30% adoption
  • Month 6: 80% adoption, measurable conversion lift

The Setup:

  • Work closely with product designers, frontend engineers & QA across multiple teams
  • No relocation; CET hours preferred, fully remote
  • High visibility, long-term impact, and a chance to set the UI standard for a global brand

💚Ready to untangle real-world UI messes—and keep them clean for millions of users? Apply now and help us build the foundation for Groupon’s next chapter.
