As a Communications Generalist on the Communications team, you'll plan and execute proactive and reactive communications across owned and earned channels to protect and grow Coinbase's reputation. This team drives media relations, crisis response, executive communications, and launch narratives across a fast-moving crypto environment. You'll own end-to-end communications planning for product launches and company announcements, manage rapid-response cycles for issues and crises, and build relationships with media that shape how the public understands Coinbase and crypto.

What you'll do:

  • Own proactive communications plans for company launches and announcements, from messaging development through media outreach and post-launch measurement.
  • Drive media relations by responding to inbound inquiries, pitching stories, staffing interviews, and managing reporter relationships across crypto and mainstream press.
  • Develop content across channels, including messaging frameworks, blog posts, social copy, and web materials that align with Coinbase's brand voice and communications strategy.
  • Prepare spokespeople for media appearances by crafting briefing documents with key messages, anticipated questions, and strategic guidance.
  • Lead rapid-response communications for crisis and issues management, partnering with Legal, Policy, and executive leadership to deliver clear, timely narratives under pressure.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years of communications experience at a PR agency or in-house communications team, with at least 2 years working within the crypto or fintech ecosystem.
  • Proven media relations track record, including established relationships with crypto press and demonstrated success in placing proactive stories and managing reactive cycles.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a portfolio of clear, concise prose that translates complex crypto and technology topics for mainstream audiences.
  • Direct experience supporting executive communications programs, including spokesperson preparation, media briefings, and message development for senior leaders.
  • Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)). 

 

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):
$140,080$164,800 USD
