Our Business Development teams focus on building partnerships with new Groupon merchants. We spend our days learning what makes small businesses tick and crafting unique marketing campaigns šÆ to help them reach their audiences. Our expertise creates jobs and drives economies as we help local merchants thrive.
š Role Overview
As a Business Developer, you'll focus on growing local businesses through the Groupon platform.
From Day 1, you'll receive hands-on professional sales training and learn the core skills needed for long-term success. Through our training program, you'll explore customer relationship building, Groupon's sales process, strategy, and sales psychology. You'll then put these skills into action to make connections, grow partnerships, and scale businessesāboth big and small.
š Job Responsibilities
- Seek out new business opportunities by cold calling š to engage, consult, and close deals
- Learn about each merchantās business: products/services, consumer demographics, ratings, competitive advantages, and profit drivers
- Use deal structure & strategy knowledge to reach Grouponās and merchantsā goals
- Take ownership of contract negotiation āļø ā margins, discounts, and more
- Consistently hit or exceed your sales targets
- Collaborate with Merchant Development teams post-close to ensure smooth handoff
- Help drive market growth by improving both merchant quality and revenue
š” Skills & Competencies
- Proven success in 360 sales roles or territory/product sales
- Inside sales experience (phone/email/social selling)
- Strong transactional selling knowledge
- Relationship management experience with small accounts
- Track record of meeting quotas, negotiating, and problem-solving
- Resilient and motivated, with strong listening and persuasion skills
- CRM experience (Salesforce is a plus)
