Job description

Veeam is the Data and AI Trust Company, specializing in helping organizations ensure their data and AI are fully understood, secured, and resilient to enable the acceleration of safe AI at scale. As the market leader in both data resilience and data security posture management, Veeam is built for the convergence of identity, data, security, and AI risk. Headquartered in Seattle with offices in more than 30 countries, Veeam protects over 550,000 customers worldwide, who trust Veeam to keep their businesses running. Join us as we go fearlessly forward together, growing, learning, and making a real impact for some of the world’s biggest brands.

About the Role

As a Technical Lead Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering, you will lead a team of Forward Deployed Engineers delivering complex customer deployments to the Securiti AI platform within Veeam.

You will own three key areas: your team’s growth and performance, delivery across a portfolio of enterprise accounts, and the customer experience from first deployment through scaled use. You will help your team turn complex data, security, privacy, and AI needs into clear technical outcomes.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will stay close to the work by reviewing architecture, guiding technical decisions, supporting escalations, and improving the patterns and tools your team uses to deliver. Your impact will come through strong people leadership, clear communication, and predictable execution across multiple accounts.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and grow a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance, and career development
  • Own delivery across a portfolio of enterprise accounts, including planning, milestones, risks, timelines, and customer outcomes
  • Balance team workload and account assignments based on skills, capacity, customer needs, and growth opportunities
  • Set a clear operating rhythm for status updates, delivery tracking, risk management, and escalation before issues grow
  • Manage customer expectations with executive and technical stakeholders, keeping commitments and delivery aligned
  • Review solution architecture, guide complex technical decisions, and help resolve escalations
  • Support deployments across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, including Kubernetes, containers, Linux, and cloud infrastructure
  • Set technical standards, reusable patterns, and playbooks that help the team deliver with quality and consistency
  • Champion AI-forward ways of working, including reusable tools and automation that improve team speed and quality
  • Partner with Sales Engineering, Account Executives, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Professional Services on pursuits, escalations, roadmap feedback, and customer delivery
  • Share field learnings with Product and Engineering to improve the platform and strengthen how the FDE organization operates

What You'll Bring

  • 8–12+ years of experience in technical, customer-facing delivery roles, such as forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, platform engineering, or technical consulting
  • Experience managing engineers or technical delivery teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development
  • Strong program and delivery management skills, with experience managing multiple customer accounts, timelines, risks, and priorities at once
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to set expectations and build trust with executives, business leaders, engineers, and internal teams
  • Technical depth in deployment and infrastructure, including Kubernetes, containers, Linux, cloud platforms, and hybrid environments
  • Ability to review technical architecture, understand systems and code, challenge assumptions, and help teams make strong technical decisions
  • Experience leading customer escalations with clarity, calm, and accountability
  • Experience using AI-native tools, automation, and modern engineering workflows to improve delivery and team effectiveness
  • Working knowledge of data security, privacy, governance, or regulatory topics across enterprise environments
  • A high-ownership mindset, with the ability to build trust, create structure, and drive outcomes across people, programs, and customers

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with DSPM, CSPM, DLP, data governance, privacy platforms, or related security domains
  • Experience leading forward-deployed, professional services, solutions delivery, or technical consulting teams at enterprise scale
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, SOC 2, or ISO 27001, especially across multiple geographies
  • Experience using delivery or project management tools to track multi-account programs
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth, geographically distributed teams
