Job description

Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

Associate Art Directors at Riot oversee the quality and management of a team with a focus on Mission, Direction, and Cohesion. Your scope of responsibilities covers an entire initiative. These responsibilities include overall culture, performance, and growth of your direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee art direction for League of Legends cosmetics, from concept through final in-game assets, ensuring every piece expresses clear thematic vision, craft excellence, and strong player resonance.
  • Define and uphold the artistic vision, craft standards, and success criteria that drive clarity, readability, and emotional impact across cosmetics. Partner with production to ensure pipelines support sustainable quality.
  • Translate Riot LA’s creative vision into actionable direction for craft leads and teams.
  • Partner closely with Riot LA Creative and Product leadership to interpret and implement League of Legends’ creative and artistic vision for cosmetics, ensuring alignment with global quality standards, champion identity, and thematic intent.
  • Champion player clarity and fantasy in every cosmetic, guiding teams to create visually exciting, thematically cohesive, and gameplay-readable art.
  • Collaborate across Riot LA and Singapore to maintain alignment, manage feedback, and resolve challenges across all stages of production.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with Riot LA Creative, Art, and Product partners through transparency, reliability, and consistent delivery.
  • Remove creative and operational blockers to enable sustainable delivery, and partner closely with Riot LA and Singapore cosmetics leadership to align on art direction, share best practices, and ensure visual consistency across regions.
  • Mentor and grow craft leads, fostering both creative excellence and leadership confidence. Inspire teams to push boundaries while maintaining League’s distinctive visual identity.
  • Foster a healthy, inclusive, and creatively charged team culture that encourages experimentation, feedback, and continuous improvement—aligned with Riot’s values and player focus.
  • Success in this role comes from translating Riot LA’s creative and product vision into inspiring, high-quality cosmetic content. You’ll align cross-regional teams, synthesize feedback, and guide Singapore’s artists to deliver work that embodies League’s clarity, craft excellence, and champion fantasy—bringing joy to players around the world.

Required Qualifications:

  • Deep experience with the game art production pipeline, across multiple art disciplines.
  • Proven success in art direction and people management.
  • Strong background collaborating with external vendors and co-development partners.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management, prioritization, and navigating ambiguity.
  • Fluent in English, able to clearly communicate creative direction and goals.
  • Deep expertise in League of Legends—its champions, visual identity, and player expectations for cosmetic content—with strong player empathy to evaluate work for clarity, readability, and delight.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience planning and maintaining production schedules in partnership with producers or development managers.
  • Broad experience shipping stylized AAA content.
  • Familiarity with outsourcing workflows and end-to-end pipelines.
  • Engine experience (Unreal, Unity, or proprietary).
  • Multilingual skills (Mandarin or other regional languages).

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks:

  • Full relocation support
  • Comprehensive health insurance for you, your spouse, and children
  • Open paid time off
  • Retirement benefits with company matching
  • Life insurance, parental leave, plus short-term and long-term disability
  • Play Fund so you can deepen your knowledge of our players and community through games
  • We’ll double down on your donations of time and money to non-profits
