At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.
Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.
About the Team
Environmental Test Lab: Vibration Test Team
The Vibration Test Team provides vibration testing services across the Terran R program, supporting hardware and systems for Avionics, Propulsion, and Mechanisms. The team partners closely with engineering organizations to execute environmental testing that validates hardware performance and readiness throughout development and qualification.
About the Role:
As an Environmental Test Specialist focused on vibration testing, you will execute acceptance, qualification, and development testing on Terran R hardware. This role requires strong hands-on knowledge of electromechanical shaker systems, instrumentation, test setup, and troubleshooting.
In this role, you will:
- Set up and execute vibration acceptance, qualification, and development tests
- Operate electromechanical shaker systems and understand the function and interaction of their major components
- Troubleshoot vibration test setups, including control issues, instrumentation problems, and fixture-related concerns
- Install, configure, and validate accelerometers and other test instrumentation
- Understand vibration control systems and identify abnormal test or system behavior
- Work closely with engineering teams to communicate test status, troubleshoot issues, and support successful test execution
- Work safely around high-voltage systems, high-pressure systems, and cryogenic environments
- Clearly document and communicate test configurations, observations, issues, and results
About You:
- 5+ years of hands-on vibration testing experience
- Strong working knowledge of vibration control systems and vibration test equipment
- High proficiency with accelerometers, instrumentation, data acquisition, and measurement equipment
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot vibration test setups, control problems, instrumentation, and test fixtures
- Working knowledge of electrical theory and electrical systems
- Working knowledge of thermal principles and their impact on hardware and test environments
- Strong computer skills and ability to work with test control, data acquisition, and technical software
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable working hands-on with complex test hardware in a dynamic test environment
Technical or vocational training is preferred. Aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability hardware testing experience is strongly preferred.
Nice to Have:
Additional environmental or dynamics testing experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
- Mechanical shock testing
- Acceleration testing
- Acoustic testing
- Environmental qualification testing of aerospace or flight hardware
- Test fixture setup, evaluation, or troubleshooting
