- Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.Role OverviewAs a Mechanical CAD Drafter, you’ll work closely with mechanical engineers and naval architects to turn conceptual designs into highly detailed, production-ready drawings. You'll own the creation and maintenance of mechanical part and assembly drawings for complex systems, including hull structures, mechanical enclosures, mounting systems, propulsion components, and internal mechanical assemblies.Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings in SolidWorks (or similar CAD software)
- Create fabrication-ready technical drawings, including GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications
- Support design of watertight enclosures, mechanical brackets, payload mounts, and system integration layouts
- Work with engineering to iterate designs based on field test feedback and functional requirements
- Maintain CAD databases, drawing revisions, part libraries, and assembly documentation
- Collaborate with external fabricators and machinists to ensure manufacturability of components
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to documentation packages for prototyping and production
- Ensure compliance with mechanical standards, material compatibility, and DoD program requirements
Qualifications- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field
- 2+ years of mechanical drafting experience in a production, prototyping, or R&D environment
- Proficient in SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD software
- Deep understanding of mechanical tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, sheet metal, composites)
- Strong organizational and file management skills
- Experience designing mechanical systems for marine, aerospace, or defense applications
- Familiarity with design for harsh environments (e.g., saltwater exposure, shock/vibration)
- Exposure to MIL-SPECs or DoD engineering standards
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, or field integration
