Job description

About BoxPower

BoxPower helps utilities, communities, and critical infrastructure deploy resilient, cost-effective distributed energy systems. We combine planning/design software (EASI), turnkey hardware “kits,” and execution services (EPC + O&M) to make DER deployments repeatable and scalable.

The Role

You’ll lead the pre-NTP commercial and operational work required to protect margin, reduce surprises, and give Delivery a clean start. This includes sales-to-delivery handoffs, customer and subcontractor contract negotiation, subcontractor selection, subcontractor pricing, and structured project de-risking

Sales-to-Delivery Handoff

  • Standardize and run the handoff from Sales into Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Operations after award
  • Validate scope, assumptions, exclusions, milestone schedules, site/customer responsibilities, and commercial commitments before internal turnover
  • Run pre-NTP readiness reviews with clear owners, deadlines, and escalation paths for unresolved items

Customer Contracting

  • Serve as the primary contract “pen holder” during customer negotiations, partnering with CEO, CFO, and GC as needed
  • Maintain deviation logs, approved fallback positions, and approval records
  • Coordinate cross-functional contract inputs from Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Finance, and Operations

Subcontractor Strategy, Selection & Pricing

  • Source, qualify, level, and select subcontractors for awarded projects
  • Lead subcontract scope alignment, bid collection, pricing comparison, commercial negotiation, and buyout discipline
  • Build repeatable subcontractor coverage, pricing benchmarks, and market intelligence to improve speed and margin protection over time

Project De-Risking Prior to NTP

  • Own the pre-NTP risk register covering scope, schedule, permitting, site conditions, supply chain, commercial terms, and execution constraints
  • Drive resolution of assumption gaps, pricing misses, scope mismatches, and other issues that would create downstream delivery risk
  • Establish clear go/no-go and readiness criteria before projects move into formal execution

Structured Transition to Delivery

  • Oversee post-signature contract readiness, including contract kickoffs, obligation extraction, and risk handoff to PMO and Operations
  • Ensure the execution team enters NTP with clear contractual obligations, aligned budget assumptions, subcontractor strategy, and open-item visibility
  • Track and improve pre-NTP cycle time, handoff quality, subcontractor coverage, and recurring root causes of downstream project disruption

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in pre-construction, project development, contracts, commercial operations, or related leadership roles
  • Track record negotiating customer and subcontractor agreements and managing pre-NTP commercial risk
  • Experience with subcontractor selection, pricing, bid leveling, scope alignment, and project readiness reviews
  • Strong written communication, contract judgment, and cross-functional execution skills

Compensation The pay range for this position is $200,000 to $225,000 annually. Actual compensation offered will be determined by the candidate's experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Equal Employment Opportunity BoxPower, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
