About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Business Development Manager, Automotive Partnerships (Europe)

This Business Development Manager role is responsible for managing partnerships for end-of-life battery and production scrap sourcing for recycling. This is a key growth area for Redwood Materials and a critical topic in the global battery materials value chain. The role includes managing relationships with automotive and cell manufacturers in Europe. The position will be responsible for business development, key account management, and commercial negotiations at multiple levels in these geographies.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Establish, develop, and manage multi-level relationships and strategies with automotive and battery manufacturers.
  • Understand, adapt to, and/or influence customer projects, value chains, and business models in detail.
  • Identify and attract new relationships and pursue new opportunities for our business and European recycling operations.
  • Lead and manage bids for new business, including formal tender processes, such as RFQs.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with customers in close collaboration with our product management team.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to drive approvals and qualifications. Lead commercial discussion and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to design customer contract strategies, negotiate to ensure strategy is achieved, and administer all aspects of contract management.
  • Understand the cell and automotive OEM industries, track the market and technology trends; synthesize and communicate internally and participate in strategy setting discussions.

Desired Qualifications

  • University degree preferred; technical background helps but not a must.
  • 7+ years sales or business development experience in an automotive, battery manufacturing, or recycling industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and build strong relationships with all levels of internal and external partners.
  • Experience in rapid growth company preferred, with demonstrated ability to navigate changes, stay flexible and take on new responsibilities.
  • Experience in managing alliance partners preferred.
  • Business level English and German language required.
  • A high focus on sustainability and making the world a better place!

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
