VP, Demand Generation

Job description

Join us in bringing joy to customer experience.  Five9 is a leading provider of cloud contact center software, bringing the power of cloud innovation to customers worldwide.

Living our values everyday results in our team-first culture and enables us to innovate, grow, and thrive while enjoying the journey together. We celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive environment, empowering our employees to be their authentic selves.

Growth at Five9 depends on a demand engine that works across regions, segments, partners, and the installed base — and on a marketing organization willing to own the outcome all the way through to a qualified conversation with a buyer, not just the click that started it. That is where this role comes in.

Position

We are looking for a Vice President of Demand Generation to build and run the pipeline engine for Five9. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this leader owns global campaign strategy, account-based marketing, partner marketing, customer marketing, the full events portfolio, and the sales development organization that converts the demand those programs create.

The role is measured on the whole path: response, qualification, opportunity, and pipeline that Sales is willing to forecast. This leader will partner with the Chief Sales Officer, the regional and segment sales leaders, the Partner organization, and the teams they lead.

The right candidate is not a channel specialist who has spent a career optimizing paid media, and not a program manager who runs the calendar while someone else carries the number. This is closer to a general manager of demand — a leader who can set global strategy, run several teams with different rhythms and different definitions of success, and stand behind a pipeline commitment to the Sales organization every quarter.

Five9 sells AI for customer experience, and we hold ourselves to the same standard we set for our customers. We expect this leader to apply AI across the demand engine — audience selection and prioritization, creative production and localization, campaign operations, sales development research and outreach, and the measurement loop that connects spend to pipeline to bookings.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Strategy and Integrated Demand

  • Own the global campaign strategy — the themes, the calendar, the channel mix, and the offer architecture that carry buyers from first awareness to a sales conversation.
  • Set and deliver pipeline targets by region, segment, and industry, building the plans and the budget allocation that make those targets credible before the quarter starts.
  • Build for international markets on their own terms — regional channel mix, language, local buying behavior, and the sales motions that follow.
  • Own the demand budget end to end, with the discipline to move it toward the programs producing pipeline.

Account-Based Marketing

  • Build and run the ABM motion for strategic and named enterprise accounts — account selection and tiering, buying-group mapping, orchestration, and creative built for a specific account.
  • Pair ABM programs with matched sales development coverage so account engagement is followed by a human within the window it matters.
  • Apply intent, engagement, and firmographic signal to prioritize where the team spends its time and where Sales spends theirs.
  • Measure ABM on account progression and opportunity creation, using the metrics Sales recognizes.

Sales Development

  • Lead inbound and outbound sales development globally, including coverage models, capacity planning, territory alignment, and quota setting in partnership with Sales and Finance.
  • Own speed to lead and qualification standards jointly with Sales leadership, including a shared definition of a qualified opportunity.
  • Keep campaign messaging and outbound sequences in lockstep so what a buyer reads and what a rep says are the same argument.
  • Make sales development a talent pipeline for Five9, with a development path into sales, marketing, and customer-facing roles.

Partner and Customer Marketing

  • Own partner marketing across the ecosystem — resellers, distributors, systems integrators, and technology alliances — in partnership with the Partner organization and the leaders who run it.
  • Build co-marketing programs that produce partner-sourced and partner-influenced pipeline, managing MDF and joint investment with discipline.
  • Drive expansion demand into the installed base, in partnership with Sales, Customer Success, and Product Marketing.
  • Build the advocacy and reference engine — customer stories, references, speakers, and communities that carry more weight with buyers than anything Five9 says about itself.

Events

  • Own the global events portfolio — company events, industry tradeshows, partner events, executive roundtables, and regional field programs.
  • Treat every event as a campaign — pre-show targeting, on-site engagement, and follow-up that is staffed and sequenced before the event opens.
  • Set the selection criteria for the event calendar with input from the Sales organization, and measure each investment on pipeline and cost per opportunity.

Team and Organizational Leadership

  • Lead a global organization across several teams, and build the shared cadence, forecast discipline, and reporting that hold them together.
  • Hire, develop, and retain leaders, and create a function that strong marketers and sales development professionals want to join and stay in.
  • Partner across Marketing — Product Marketing, Brand and Communications, Marketing Operations, and Analytics — so campaigns are built on the right positioning and measured on the right data.
  • Represent the demand engine to the executive team with a clear account of what is working and what changes next.

Candidate Requirements and Experience

  • 15+ years of marketing experience, with at least 8 years leading demand generation in B2B SaaS or enterprise technology.
  • Experience running demand across both Americas and international markets, with a working understanding of how buying behavior, channel mix, and sales motions differ by region.
  • Experience leading a sales development organization, or running demand in close partnership with one where SDR performance was part of the marketing number.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling ABM programs for enterprise accounts in close partnership with Sales.
  • Partner or channel marketing experience is highly recommended, including co-marketing programs and MDF management.
  • Experience owning an events portfolio at scale, including at least one large owned customer or user conference.
  • Customer marketing or installed-base demand experience is highly recommended.
  • Expert command of funnel metrics, attribution, campaign ROI, and budget allocation — and the credibility to defend those numbers in front of Sales and Finance.
  • Strong hands-on familiarity with the modern demand stack: CRM, marketing automation, ABM and intent platforms, sales engagement tooling, and BI reporting.
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern AI tools and a clear point of view on how they apply to demand generation — campaign creation, audience selection, localization, outbound research, and team productivity.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

About You

  • You are comfortable being accountable to targets. You would rather commit to a pipeline number and be measured against it than be evaluated on activity.
  • You lead breadth well. You can move from an ABM account review to an SDR pipeline call to an event budget conversation in the same morning and add something useful in each.
  • You are direct about what is not working, and you say so plainly rather than letting a program run out the year.
  • You build strong partnerships with Sales. You are in their forecast calls, you know their territories, and you are treated as part of the revenue team rather than as a supplier to it.
  • You hire well and develop people generously, and you have a track record of promoting leaders out of your organization.
  • You are genuinely curious about AI and have already woven it into how you and your teams work — not as a talking point, but as a tool that changes what is possible.
