Tech Specialist, Database & Middleware
Job requirements
Experience Range:
  • 2 - 4 years of experience, including at least 2-3 years in operational database support across SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle platforms
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage database availability, CPU, memory, and disk utilization alerts to ensure optimal performance and uptime, documenting resolution actions and system status
  • Administer user accounts by creating, modifying, disabling inactive accounts, resetting passwords, and managing permissions across multiple database platforms, ensuring compliance with security policies
  • Log, categorize, and prioritize incident tickets, escalating unresolved issues and maintaining accurate worklogs while coordinating with L2 teams for timely resolution
  • Execute approved scripts, run health checks, restart database services, and generate comprehensive support and audit reports to meet operational and regulatory requirements
  • Verify backup completion, validate backup job logs, and escalate failed backups to maintain data integrity and business continuity, tracking backup success rates
  • Review database logs, support failover notifications, and assist with migration and deployment activities to minimize downtime and ensure seamless transitions
  • Monitor and analyze database growth trends, replication health, and failed maintenance jobs to proactively address system risks and optimize resource utilization
  • Update and maintain technical knowledge articles and documentation to support operational excellence and facilitate knowledge sharing across the team
  • Required Skills:
  • SQL Server administration and troubleshooting
  • Azure SQL database management and monitoring
  • PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning
  • Oracle DBA tasks including user management and backup operations
  • Database backup and restore processes across multiple platforms
  • Execution and validation of health check and maintenance scripts
  • Incident and alert management in enterprise database environments
  • Database user administration and security best practices
  • Monitoring tools for CPU, memory, and disk utilization
  • Generating and interpreting database reports and audit logs
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Weblogic or WebSphere administration in enterprise environments
  • MongoDB, MySQL, or Informix DBA experience
  • Middleware technologies such as Apache Tomcat and NGINX
  • Advanced scripting for automation using Oracle PL/SQL or Python
  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms such as BIZTALK or CFI/MFT
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional
  • PostgreSQL or SQL Server administration certification
