Job Summary:We are seeking a Systems Engineer to collaborate with our engineering team, fabricators, and installers building the first of its kind biorefinery of tomorrow. The ideal candidate will have a background in petrochemical/refineries (bio or otherwise), or other complex engineered systems (aerospace, defense, etc.). In this position, you will be responsible for designing and constructing the demonstration facility, including tanks, vessels, and custom equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluates and designs integrated systems developing requirements analysis, system architecture, and identifying performance optimization.
- Coordinating work with in-house and outside engineering contractors
- Identifies vendors and interacts with external teams to procure technical equipment and services
- Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data to improve system performance and support the development of future systems / processes.
- Reviews designs, documentation, and integration plans to meet future operational needs
- Conducts FMEA or other proactive risk analysis methodologies to identify potential problems in design or interaction between subsystems and develops resolution
- Ensures compliance with internal standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements, including OSHA and other government policies & regulations.
- Participates in hazard analysis (HAZOP) reviews and incident investigations
- Provides discipline input and equipment selection oversight to engineering projects.
- Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives.
- Participates in factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests overseeing integration of different subsystems
- Participates in commissioning and startup activities, including loop checking and calibration of instruments and analyzers.
- Conferring with management and project stakeholders throughout a project’s life cycle.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience working in a systems, integration, or reliability role with petrochemical, aerospace, or defense experience preferred
- Knowledge of system-level testing, validation, and lifecycle management
- Proficiency in systems modeling and engineering simulation tools
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with multi-disciplinary systems / integration
- Project management / project engineer experience a plus
- Familiarity with third party EPC and Engineering partners.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting and moving of items up to fifty (50) pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required. Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and practices.
