Senior Software Engineer (Backend, Python-Django) - ZeroCater

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on the back-end development of Django models, serializers, business algorithms, and APIs, but is also able to work on the front-end with some help. The person should be keen to make a difference by writing defensive but performant code, thereby influencing where we go as a company, and how the code is organized to achieve the best results. We use Python, Django, PostgresSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, LangGraph, Foundational LLMs, Claude on the back-end, and React on the front-end. We use Claude Code, Cursor heavily and any other AI dev tools.

Education: B. Tech, M. Tech, BE, MCA from Tier I & Tier II institutes

Mandatory Skills: Python, Django, SQL, RESTful API, AI Development tools (Cursor, Claude, WindSurf, Codex, CoPilot, etc.)

Optional Skills: Langgraph, n8n, Agentic AI, RAG development, LLM fine-tuning, Vector database/search

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Architect robust, scalable, and secure back-end systems and APIs primarily using Python (Django).
• Lead the development and delivery of complex, business-critical features, including Agentic AI components, ensuring high performance and quality.
• Drive and enforce software engineering best practices (testing, code review, modularization) across the team to maintain a high bar for code health and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to mid and junior engineers, guiding their development and increasing team velocity and competency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Front-end) to define technical specifications and perform system design/architecture reviews.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical debt and advocate for innovative technologies and optimal architectural choices to improve the platform's foundation.
