Solarians are ready to advance our world-class solutions in a fast-paced environment and accept the challenge to lead with purpose. If you’re looking to build your career with an exceptional team, you’ve come to the right place. Join SolarWinds and grow with us!

We employ only via an employment contract – full-time employment (HPP).

As a Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the automation and self‑service platforms that enable engineering teams at SolarWinds to work faster, safer, and more autonomously. You will own the workflows behind our internal self‑service catalogs and requests (e.g., GitHub repository lifecycle, access management, Azure DevBox, and other engineering services), turning manual processes into resilient, observable, and well‑governed automation. This role focuses on developer experience and operational excellence, blending strong systems engineering skills with modern DevOps and platform engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Automation & Infrastructure as Code

    • Implement and maintain automation using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and configuration management for GitHub, Azure/AWS Infrastructure and related systems.

    • Build reusable automation modules, pipelines, and templates that standardize how engineering teams consume infrastructure and shared services.

    • Strong scripting/coding (Bash/pwsh / python).

    • Continuously reduce manual work and operational toil by identifying automation opportunities across team domains.

  2. SelfService Catalogs & Request Flows

    • Design and implement end‑to‑end self‑service request flows (e.g., via Service Desk/ Port.io / catalog tools) including forms, approvals, policy checks, and backend automation.

    • Integrate self‑service experiences with CI/CD, identity, and collaboration tools to ensure frictionless and compliant delivery.

    • Establish metrics and feedback loops to improve request turnaround time, success rates, and user satisfaction.

  3. Infrastructure and Cloud

    • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure primarily on Azure, with supporting workloads on AWS where needed.

    • Support and evolve containerization and orchestration practices (Docker, Kubernetes) as part of the broader platform and self-service ecosystem.

  1. Collaboration, Product Thinking & Leadership

    • Work closely with engineering teams, architects, security, and IT to understand their needs and evolve team platforms as “products” with clear roadmaps and success metrics.

    • Mentor other engineers in automation, Infrastructure as Code, platform design, and operational excellence.

    • Communicate trade‑offs, design decisions, and roadmap priorities clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, influencing how teams adopt team services.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Platform EngineerSenior DevOps Engineer, or SRE building and operating internal platforms or developer tooling.

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Azure/AWS

  • Strong Scripting/Coding skills.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and how they fit into internal platform tooling.

  • Familiarity with GitOps workflows and tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux) for managing deployment and configuration state declaratively.

  • Solid proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, ideally including Terraform, for managing cloud resources, GitHub, and related platforms.

  • Experience designing and automating selfservice workflows (e.g., service catalog requests, end-to-end user triggered automation, access provisioning, environment creation) integrated with service desk and/or workflow engines.

  • Strong background with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI) and integrating automation into delivery workflows.

  • Good understanding of identity and access management, particularly around GitHub, Azure AD/Entra ID, and role/group‑based access patterns.

  • Experience with observability tooling and operational practices for internal services (dashboards, alerting, logging, incident response).

  • Solid knowledge of security, compliance, and auditability considerations in engineering tooling and automation.

  • Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead crossteam initiatives, drive consensus, and deliver long‑term improvements in automation, self‑service, and engineering productivity.

Our benefits:

  • 25 days of vacation per year
  • 3 sick days per year
  • 10 study days per year
  • 2 volunteering days per year
  • 4 weeks’ holidays after 5-year tenure, Sabbatical Leave
