About the Role
The Principal Supply Chain Consultant plays a significant role in driving consulting services by helping to secure new business, leading complex logistics and supply chain projects, and retaining key clients. This role demands a deep understanding of supply chain management, exceptional project leadership skills, and the ability to provide expert guidance to clients in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in transportation and logistics industry work or consulting. This position will have remote/work from home options available.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Pursue new business opportunities by leading discovery calls, developing proposals and presentations, and presenting them to clients and potential clients to secure consulting engagements.
- Identify standard and unique requirements necessary to complete specific customer projects.
- Forecast active potential projects against net revenue goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic clients to understand their needs and provide ongoing support.
- Lead cross-functional teams on complex projects by overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of projects to ensure they meet and exceed client expectations and are completed on time and within budget.
- Perform analysis and data summaries necessary to support consulting project or strategic work.
- Travel onsite to customer locations as needed to work with clients.
- Collaboration with the client’s team on strategic rollout of initiatives identified in consulting project work, to be integrated with other long term customer strategic plans.
- Track and report on progress relative to plan on client and internal strategic projects.
- Provide expert guidance internally and to clients on supply chain, warehousing, and transportation strategies.
- Monitor industry trends and advancements to keep the organization and clients at the forefront of innovation.
- Collaboration with the client’s team on strategic rollout of initiatives identified in consulting project work, to be integrated with other long term customer strategic plans.
- Track work and prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management and clients, outlining project outcomes, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations relative to plan.
Travel
- 20-50% Depending on active projects and client need.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Logistics Engineering, or a related field of study.
- Minimum of 10 years of strategic experience in transportation, warehousing, procurement, supply chain management, or supply chain consulting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and drive results.
- Deep understanding of supply chain and transportation strategies and tactics.
- Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and sense of urgency, ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft and/or Google Tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of transportation management, transportation procurement, or transportation strategy experience.
- Experience with network analysis and design.
- Experience managing transportation procurement bids and strategy.
- Familiarity with supply chain and transportation optimization software.
