Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Carrier Management to lead our brokerage division’s carrier team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing carrier visibility, engagement, compliance, and performance through data-driven strategies and best practices. This role will focus on strengthening relationships with carriers, optimizing tracking technologies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and driving process automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Carrier Visibility & Technology Management:

  • Implement and manage carrier visibility solutions such as EDI, MacroPoint, API integrations, Carrier Portals, and other tracking tools.
  • Optimize real-time visibility and data flow to enhance shipment tracking and performance.
  • Work closely with IT and operations teams to integrate and maintain carrier visibility platforms.
  • Identify and implement process automation strategies to improve carrier management efficiency.

Carrier Engagement & Relationships:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners to ensure long-term collaboration and success.
  • Drive carrier engagement initiatives through performance and strategic communication.
  • Work with the carrier network to promote best practices and continuous improvement.

Carrier Performance & Improvement Plans:

  • Design and implement carrier KPI metrics and scorecards to track performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Develop and oversee carrier improvement plans to enhance service levels, reduce transit times, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Analyze carrier performance trends and provide actionable recommendations to optimize the brokerage network.

Carrier Compliance & Security:

  • Ensure all carriers comply with CTPAT, security protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement internal audits and compliance tracking to mitigate risk.
  • Oversee carrier training programs to ensure adherence to compliance requirements, operational procedures, and technology utilization.

Carrier Escalations & Issue Resolution:

  • Act as an escalation point for carrier-related disputes, service failures, and commercial issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to resolve carrier performance issues and drive accountability.
  • Implement proactive strategies to prevent recurring carrier escalations.

Basic and preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in carrier management, brokerage, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of carrier visibility platforms, EDI, API integrations, and load tracking technologies.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage KPIs, scorecards, and performance improvement plans.
  • Strong understanding of carrier compliance standards, including CTPAT and security protocols.
  • Experience with process automation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting tools, and transportation management systems (TMS).
