Job Description

Req ID: FEQ427R117
Location: Tokyo, Japan

At Databricks, our core values are at the heart of everything we do; a culture of proactiveness and customer‑centricity guides us to build a unified platform that makes data and AI accessible to everyone. In Japan Financial Services, we help leading banks, insurers, securities firms, payment providers, and asset managers turn data into a strategic asset – improving customer experience, strengthening risk management, and driving profitable growth.

You will be the senior technical leader for a set of strategic FSI accounts in Japan, using your executive‑level technical credibility and Financial Services expertise to shape and execute their data and AI strategy.

Reporting to: Manager, Field Engineering – Financial Services, Japan

The impact you will have

  • Own technical strategy for key FSI customers in Japan, defining the target architecture and roadmap for their Databricks lakehouse and AI platform.
  • Lead high‑impact evaluations and designs for priority FSI use cases (e.g., fraud/AML, risk, regulatory reporting, SIEM, Hyper Personalization, trading and investment analytics).
  • Connect architecture to outcomes, showing how Databricks reduces risk, improves efficiency, and unlocks new revenue, then using those wins to drive broader expansion.
  • Shape the ecosystem, working closely with cloud providers, global/local SIs, and fintech partners to deliver end‑to‑end solutions on Databricks.
  • Raise the bar regionally, mentoring other Solutions Architects and contributing reusable reference architectures, patterns, and customer stories for Japan FSI.

What we look for

  • 10+ years in data platforms, analytics, or cloud architecture, including 6+ years working with large Financial Services institutions in Japan.
  • Proven ability to influence C‑level and director‑level stakeholders (CIO, CDO, CRO, heads of data/AI) and lead high‑stakes technical discussions in Japanese.
  • Deep hands‑on background in at least one area: Data Engineering, Data Warehousing/Analytics, AI/ML, or Cloud Architecture, with a strong architecture / platform focus.
  • Experience designing data and analytics solutions for FSI use cases (e.g., risk, fraud/AML, regulatory reporting, SIEM, customer analytics, or trading/investment).
  • Strong understanding of Japan FSI landscape, including typical organization structures, how decisions are made, and the role of SIs and cloud providers.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, able to explain complex architectures to both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
  • Language: Native‑level Japanese and business‑level English.

If you’re excited about helping Japan’s Financial Services use data and AI to deliver better outcomes – while setting the technical bar for our GTM in Japan – we’d love to hear from you.
