Job Description: About the Role

As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you’ll be working on the Mood Boards team at Houzz, helping to shape the creative tools that designers and homeowners use to plan and visualize their projects. We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, independent, and comfortable owning complete features from concept to launch. Our tech stack includes React, Node, GraphQL, PHP, AWS, GitHub, Jenkins, Kubernetes, MySQL, Redis, Kafka, Docker, and more. Your work will directly impact millions of users around the world, helping them bring their dream spaces to life. What You’ll Do
Take high level ideas and transform them into live products, used by millions of homeowners and professionals from around the world
Build features for all parts of our web application, its libraries, and microservices including API design, frontend integration and backend implementation
Work cross-functionally across engineering, product, and design teams
Build and improve Houzz Moodboards, including the overall experience and a focus on new feature sets
At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have
Proficiency in web stack programming, from schema design to building user-facing interfaces
Experience with modern frontend technologies such as React
Experience working with product and UX/UI designers to create great user experiences
Experience collaborating with other engineers on substantial engineering projects
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
2+ years of engineering experience
Ideally, You'll Also Have
Independence, self-direction and experience owning complete products and features
A desire to build an engaging consumer experience
Comfort working on fast paced, data-driven projects
4+ years of engineering experience
Experience designing web application APIs
Experience working on with the HTML canvas API
Experience with any backend programming languages (e.g. PHP, Java, Python)
Experience with monitoring platforms such as Pingdom, Grafana, Prometheus, Bosun and TSDB
Experience participating in an on-call rotation
