About Good Eggs

At our core, we represent radical freshness, impeccable quality, curated selections and exceptional service. Picked yesterday, baked this morning, by the people we know and trust. We go straight to the source and bring only the best right to you. We're Good Eggs.

About the Role

We're looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef to join our culinary team and lead daily food production across our kitchen and pack operations. This role is critical to upholding the culinary vision of Good Eggs and our food partners. You'll be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, efficiency, and team leadership in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone who is passionate about food, energized by operations, and motivated by purpose. You’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of our culinary staff—including cooks, prep cooks, packers, and dishwashers—while also managing critical business functions like inventory, purchasing, labor planning, training, and recipe execution.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily execution of prepared foods for Good Eggs’ culinary and partnership programs
  • Champion food quality, food & kitchen safety, and sanitation practices across the team
  • Manage and delegate daily production lists, ensuring timelines are met and standards upheld
  • Use digital tools to translate recipes into production plans and schedules
  • Partner with culinary leadership to plan staffing and labor in alignment with daily and weekly production goals
  • Standardize and troubleshoot recipes, and maintain adherence to weights, yields, and methods
  • Collaborate on inventory and purchasing, ensuring efficient ordering and minimizing product loss
  • Coach and support the team through training, recipe development, and process changes
  • Maintain detailed records and digital logs for inventory, production, temperature checks, and food safety documentation
  • Communicate clearly with kitchen teammates, operations teams, and external partners
  • Support new product development, activations, and strategic food projects as needed
  • Stay alert to team dynamics and partner with People Ops as needed to support employee well-being
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, guiding the team on proper handling of waste and adherence to environmental standards
  • Qualifications
  • 5+ years of high-volume, batch-cooking experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role
  • A hands-on leader with a passion for food and team development
  • Experienced in a range of cuisines, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment
  • Hands-on, organized, and solutions-oriented, with excellent time management and a strong sense of urgency
  • Deep knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene protocols
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using Google Workspace, Slack, and culinary software for scheduling, inventory, and team communication
  • Experience with recipe scaling, production planning, and inventory control
  • Excellent communication skills—with the ability to lead internally and collaborate cross-functionally
  • A positive, calm, and professional demeanor; energized by working in a mission-driven, fast-paced setting
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts as needed
  • Spanish-speaking or bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
  • Competencies
  • Knowledge of seasonal and local products.
  • Experience in multiple cuisines and high-volume production.
  • Production planning to recipes and quantities needed.
  • Comfortable and experienced with a wide variety of kitchen equipment.
  • Food Safety and kitchen hygiene knowledge required.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment where duties are shared.
  • Comfortable using a variety of software (including, but not limited to, Google Suite and Slack), scheduling, production scheduling, recipe management, and team communication.
  • Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced kitchen environment; must be comfortable with cold storage areas (refrigerators/freezers) and standing/walking for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 30–50 lbs regularly
  • Requires slip-resistant footwear (provided) and adherence to PPE and food safety standards
  • This is a physically active role in a busy kitchen environment. You’ll be on your feet most of the day and regularly lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs. You must be comfortable working in cold storage areas (including freezers), and PPE must be worn in accordance with food safety and company protocols.
