Job description

About the Role:

Job Title: Engineering Manager

Experience: 9 + years

One of Sibros’ core products is to offer OTA (over-the-air) software updates to a fleet of vehicles. We believe all the new vehicles will have some form of connectivity to the cloud in a few years. We are building a deployment engine that powers millions of vehicles with millions of software updates. While this is not an easy problem to solve, especially in the automotive industry: vehicles could go offline anytime, poor network connectivity is a norm, updates need to happen only in safe circumstances… the list could go on. As part of the team, you will tackle one of the most challenging and critical problems in the OTA domain at planet scale, untangling various race conditions and scaling issues in a large distributed system. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

What you’ll do:

  • Software Engineering & Architecture: Design and implement highly scalable, reliable distributed systems to manage vehicle package and configuration upgrades for millions of vehicles.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expertise to team members, assisting in solving complex technical challenges and making critical architectural decisions to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and inspire a team of software developers and engineers, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish methodologies and tools to enhance team productivity and code quality, while driving the implementation of industry best practices and standards.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management: Define project scope and timelines with stakeholders, monitoring progress and mitigating risks to ensure successful completion within budget and schedule.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, firmware teams, and QA engineers to align technical requirements with business objectives and ensure smooth project execution.

What you should know:

  • Professional Experience: 9+ years of experience as a software engineer with a proven track record of leading technical professionals.
  • Core Fundamentals: Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert in writing at least one production-grade programming language (Java, C#, Ruby, Python, or Golang).
  • System Design: Deep experience in designing and implementing production-grade microservices and cloud-native technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate project status, risks, and technical concepts to both executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Startup Mindset: A willingness to wear multiple hats and adapt quickly to a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Orchestration Expertise: Experience developing large-scale deployment or workflow orchestration systems.
  • Automotive Security: Good understanding of security, certificates, and encryption, including familiarity with update frameworks like TUF or Uptane.
  • Advanced Systems Knowledge: Experience with streaming architectures and low-latency environments to support real-time vehicle data.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: A package inclusive of performance incentives.
  • Growth Environment: A dynamic work environment with a flat hierarchy and rapid career advancement.
  • Learning & Development: Access to continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours and a culture that promotes balance.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health insurance and wellness programs.
  • Modern Policy: Flexible vacation and paid time off, you decide when you need a break.
  • Team Culture: Regular team events, off-sites, and a budget for online courses, books, and conferences.
