Workshop Coordinator
Job location
Payerne, Vaud, Switzerland
Job description

About the role

The Destinus team at Payerne is looking for a hands-on Workshop Coordinator to keep the R&D workshop running smoothly across work preparation, warehouse and logistics, and workshop management. This is a broad operational role that touches everything between an incoming delivery and a finished part leaving the shop, suited to someone who is equally comfortable at a workbench, a stock shelf, or a planning board.

The ideal candidate has a machinist or polymechanic background and has since built solid experience across AVOR, warehousing, and production operations. They are organised, self-sufficient, and not afraid to get their hands dirty when needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the workshop stores and warehouse: receive incoming goods, maintain stock levels of materials, consumables, and tooling, and ensure accurate inventory records in the ERP system
  • Handle logistics for the site: coordinate deliveries and shipments, manage supplier and carrier interactions, and ensure timely flow of materials between internal teams and external partners
  • Prepare and plan manufacturing activities (AVOR): review technical drawings, define operation sequences, prepare work instructions, and ensure all materials, tooling, and documentation are in place before production starts
  • Keep the workshop organised and operational: manage tool inventories, coordinate equipment maintenance scheduling, and maintain a clean and efficient production environment
  • Support manufacturing directly when needed, setting up machines, preparing workpieces, or assisting technicians on the floor
  • Assess manufacturability of new parts coming from engineering; flag risks and support the transition of new components into production
  • Maintain accurate production and logistics data in the ERP system; support reporting on stock, lead times, and workshop status
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to keep information flowing and bottlenecks from forming

Requirements

What You’ll Need

  • Completed vocational training as a Polymechaniker/in, machinist, or equivalent – EFZ or comparable
  • 3+ years of broad operational experience spanning at least two of the following: AVOR / work preparation, warehouse and logistics management, workshop or production floor operations
  • Hands-on attitude and willing and able to step in on the floor, not just coordinate from a desk
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawings, machining methods, and tolerances
  • Experience with ERP systems for inventory, production orders, and logistics; comfortable maintaining accurate records
  • Organised and self-sufficient – able to manage multiple workstreams without close supervision
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume or R&D-adjacent manufacturing environment is an advantage
  • Fluent in English (required); French and/or German is a strong advantage
