Job description

About ALSO.

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

As a Staff Technical Program Manager, Software, you'll drive firmware and embedded software development both internally and externally. You'll partner with product, hardware and software engineering, and other cross-functional teams to drive software development in hardware products and integrate it into our backend systems, requiring deep end-to-end collaboration aligned with our hardware product roadmap.

What You'll Do

  • Use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary software projects from start to finish, managing critical workstreams across embedded software development, controls, and connectivity

  • Work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company

  • Work with a team of software and hardware engineers on multiple high-visibility consumer-facing products

  • Drive the planning and implementation of programs and features with cross-functional teams to hit roadmap goals, tracking progress, analyzing risks, resolving execution issues, and communicating status

  • Develop and manage program schedules, technical issues, release management, and resource needs with engineering and cross-functional teams

  • Manage communication of progress and status with stakeholders and leadership across locations and time zones, and own and nurture relationships between cross-functional teams

  • Implement process improvements to streamline product development and continuously manage risks

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field

  • 7+ years of experience in program management, engineering, or a similar cross-functional role

  • Track record of launching consumer electronics, IoT devices, vehicles, or similar hardware/software devices from concept to production; bonus points for building plans and workflows in a new organization on first-generation products

  • Experience managing embedded device hardware/software releases and integration into back-end software systems

  • Proficiency with bug/task tracking tools, especially Jira

  • Ability to adapt processes to the team composition and stay time-efficient with planning and status reporting

  • Demonstrated proficiency working with cross-functional hardware and software teams, with the ability to see the forest from the trees

  • Highly collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and the ability to distill multivariable problems into clear decisions and actions

The salary for this position ranges from $180,000 - $240,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

Perks & Benefits

  • Robust health coverage — excellent health, dental and vision insurance covered up to 100% by ALSO with FSA & HSA options

  • One Medical membership and dedicated insurance advocates

  • Rich fertility and family building benefits with Progyny

  • Flexible time off

  • 401(k) match

Why ALSO.

We’re passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you’re headed.

We’re located in the heart of Silicon Valley and have brought together a world-class team from some of the biggest brands in the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation and retail spaces.

Together we’re working hands-on to imagine, design and build an entirely new solution to a global set of transportation challenges.
