Overview 

Five9 is transforming customer engagement with intelligent cloud contact center solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Revenue Accountant to join our growing India Finance team. 

This role will primarily support global revenue accounting operations (U.S. GAAP) while partnering closely with U.S.-based stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong SaaS revenue recognition expertise, audit experience, and thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Review and assess sales contracts to ensure appropriate revenue treatment in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 guidelines. 
  • Ensure revenue recognition complies with company policy and SaaS accounting standards. 
  • Prepare deal and contract summaries for material completed transactions. 
  • Record and prepare journal entries for revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and related accounts on a global basis. 
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including reconciliations and variance analysis. 
  • Assist with external and internal audits by preparing reconciliations, supporting documentation, and coordinating with auditors. 
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Operations, Customer Support, Billing, and Collections teams (primarily U.S.-based) to analyze and reconcile customer accounts. 
  • Assist in managing and resolving customer billing and revenue-related issues. 
  • Support implementation of process improvements, including SOX compliance initiatives and access control enhancements. 
  • Participate in revenue accounting and Order-to-Cash transformation projects. 
  • Stay current on new revenue accounting standards and assist in developing policies and scalable processes for the India finance function. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (mandatory). 
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification required. 
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience. 
  • Big 4 / Public Accounting experience preferred. 
  • Strong experience in revenue recognition, including ASC 606 application and implementation. 
  • Prior experience in Software/SaaS industry required. 
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Salesforce is a strong plus. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, financial modeling). 
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with ability to clearly present complex accounting matters to global stakeholders. 
  • Willingness to work U.S. time zone (night shift) to support global operations.
