About The Role

BrightEdge is hiring a Senior Accountant to own our procure-to-pay (PTP) process end to end, from purchasing and AP through T&E, accruals, and the resulting GL impact. This is a hands-on role in our Chicago finance team, reporting directly to the Controller.

BrightEdge Technologies is a SaaS company headquartered in San Mateo, California. This position is based in Chicago and is in the office five days a week. You will manage one offshore team member who focuses on T&E and also supports AP.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • Own the PTP cycle: Manage purchasing, PO processing, vendor invoices, AP, payment runs, and vendor relationships.

  • Oversee T&E: Review employee reimbursements and corporate card transactions for policy compliance, supporting documentation, and accurate GL and department coding; direct offshore support and submit transactions for Controller approval.

  • Maintain reconciliations: Ensure accurate, supportable bank and credit card reconciliations.

  • Leverage AI and automation: Improve the efficiency, accuracy, and controls of PTP workflows.

  • Support monthly close: Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, calculate and post accruals, and provide supporting schedules and documentation.

  • Analyze financial results: Perform monthly income statement variance analysis, investigate fluctuations, and document key drivers.

  • Manage intercompany accounting: Prepare and post journal entries across domestic and international subsidiaries in NetSuite, ensuring accurate balances and accounting treatment.

  • Support cross-border transactions: Apply working knowledge of foreign currency and intercompany AP accounting.

  • Provide billing support: Serve as backup for billing and collections.

  • Document processes: Build and maintain clear documentation to ensure continuity, coverage, and effective handoffs.

We're Excited About You if You Have
  • Education: Accounting degree or equivalent accounting education.

  • Experience: 4+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including AP and month-end close.

  • Accounting knowledge: Working knowledge of US GAAP, accruals, and account reconciliations.

  • Systems: Hands-on NetSuite experience and proficiency in Excel.

  • AI adoption: Regular use of AI tools, with examples of improving efficiency, accuracy, or processes.

  • In-office commitment: Ability to work onsite in our Chicago office five days a week.

  • Communication: Ability to work effectively with vendors, budget owners, and offshore teammates across time zones.

  • Salesforce: Experience working in Salesforce.

  • Expense management: Experience administering expense or spend management systems.

  • Process improvement: Experience implementing finance systems, workflows, or policies.

  • Industry experience: Background in SaaS or high-growth technology companies.
