About The Role:
Join our team developing cutting-edge software for the Quarterhorse supersonic unmanned aircraft. You'll work with C++ and web technologies (TypeScript/JavaScript) to build control systems for both remotely piloted (HOTAS) and autonomous flight modes. This role includes designing and implementing intuitive user interfaces, ranging from hands-on control to point-and-click autonomy management.
Responsibilities:
Software development on the human-machine interaction (HMI) program used by flight crew to control the aircraft and run simulations
Software development on the communications software (RF, Satcom, networking) running on the ground and the vehicle
Collaborate with flight crew to develop and assess usability of the cockpit software and hardware
Collaborate with engineers to display and control hardware systems
Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle including planning, design, implementation, review, testing, documentation, and user evaluation
Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (Undergraduate student (at least a rising senior) or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program)
Pursuing Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related degrees
C/C++ Experience
Web Applications Experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, Electron, etc.)
Computer Networking knowledge
Aviation/simulation experience
Strong understanding of engineering first principles
Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus' mission
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
GPA of 3.0 or above
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated knowledge or interest in aerospace industry (aviation or rocketry clubs, pilot license, DCS Ace, etc.)
Experience working on 2D or 3D games or simulations (especially Unreal, Unity, Cesium)
Networking protocol knowledge (TCP/UDP), IP routing, Etc,
User Interface (UI) or Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) classes
