Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Propulsion Test Engineer at Agile Space Industries, you'll lead the charge in testing and optimizing cutting-edge propulsion systems for space exploration. Your mission? Ensure reliability, efficiency, and safety through meticulous testing and analysis. With a high-energy attitude and serious commitment to safety, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of space travel.

Agile is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Senior Propulsion Test Engineer!

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute test plans to evaluate the performance of propulsion systems, including liquid rocket engines, thrusters, and propulsion subsystems.
  • Safely handle hypergolic propellants and ensure adherence to established procedures for storage, transportation, and usage in propulsion testing operations.
  • Set up and operate test equipment and facilities, including test stands, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.
  • Conduct pre-test checks, calibration, and verification of test setups to ensure accuracy and reliability of test data.
  • Monitor test operations, collect data, and analyze results to assess propulsion system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop test procedures, requirements, and specifications for propulsion system testing.
  • Troubleshoot test anomalies, implementing corrective actions to maintain test schedule and data integrity.
  • Perform post-test analysis and reporting, documenting test results, observations, and recommendations for further development.
  • Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical discussions to contribute insights and expertise to propulsion system development efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards during all phases of testing operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field (advanced degree is preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in propulsion system testing, including hands-on experience with test stand operations and data acquisition systems.
  • Knowledge of test instrumentation, sensors, and measurement techniques used in propulsion testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work for extended periods while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and varied hours as needed.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with hypergolic propellant material compatibility and safe handling practices in propulsion testing environments.
  • Proficiency in test planning, execution, and analysis, with experience in designing and conducting test campaigns for aerospace propulsion systems.
  • Proven leadership in guiding teams for optimal performance in fast-paced testing environments.
  • Experience with propulsion test facilities, including knowledge of safety procedures, facility operations, and test equipment maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of propulsion system fundamentals, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts and findings to diverse audiences.

Employment Type: Exempt

Salary: $ 100,000 - $150,000

Occasional overtime to meet business needs

Salary Range for this position will be determined based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and will be compared with internal equity along with market data for this position. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus through the company bonus program. This position may also be eligible to receive a Relocation bonus, payable as a taxable lump sum, in accordance with the Agile Relocation Policy.
