Role Summary:

As a Full Stack Software Engineer at Prefect, you will work on and lead projects important to the success of our company with opportunities to work on our Open Source codebase, our Cloud UI product, and internal tools. You will be responsible for both frontend and backend development, focusing on delivering an outstanding web application and advancing our Python library.

You will coordinate with team members, including our CTO and CEO, on new features and help Prefect execute our product roadmap. You will identify opportunities for improvement, and track risks and dependencies. You will be a mentor and provide leadership to other members of the engineering team.

We expect our engineers to be product-focused, enthusiastic to take on new challenges, and lead our product and culture forward. You will be an enthusiastic champion for user empathy across all our products and support our users through multiple support channels.

You will report to our Engineering Manager, Jenny.

What You'll Do:

• Work with engineers on your team to deliver a highly available, best-in-class web application for interfacing with our products
• Develop new features, patterns, and frameworks for our Prefect 2.0 open-source application and Python library
• Guide our open-source projects, engage with our community, and always try to promote our internal user empathy by promoting use cases
• Ensure our internal codebases remain well tested, easily extensible, and documented
• Embody ownership: contribute and advocate for your ideas, while also preventing projects from failing

Your Qualifications:

• 5-8+ years of total programming experience with Python and Typescript (or JavaScript) and Vue (or a similar JS framework)
• Knowledge of building scalable, modular user interfaces
• Genuine and uncompromising user empathy in design and implementation
• Experience working with Python, including asyncio, automated testing frameworks, concurrency, and ORMs and knowledge of distributed computing frameworks in Python such as Dask and Spark
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP — but not necessarily all of those!)
• Experience deploying Kubernetes applications
• Experience visualizing complex data
• Experience contributing to open-source projects
• Series A (whatever-it-takes) approach to ensure that Prefect's product and team are successful with a strong focus on product-led growth strategy

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$215,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and relevant job levels. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
