Global enterprises, including one-third of the Fortune 500, use AppZen’s invoice, expense, and card transaction solutions to replace manual finance processes and accelerate the speed and agility of their businesses.
At AppZen, we value candidates who are actively using AI tools to enhance productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and solve problems more efficiently. Across all roles, we are looking for team members who leverage AI in meaningful ways to drive impact in their work.
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to help define how AppZen integrates with external payment infrastructure providers, enabling customers to move from an approved financial obligation to a completed, reconciled payment. This role is about determining the right partners to integrate with, owning those integrations end to end, and designing a payment experience that fits naturally into an AI-driven finance workflow! We're looking for someone who has done this before and understands the payments landscape well enough to evaluate providers, navigate complex integrations, and bring an enterprise-grade payments capability to market.
What You'll Do:
Define the product strategy for extending AppZen's platform into payments, including which capabilities to own directly versus provide through partners
Develop a deep understanding of the payment infrastructure landscape and identify, evaluate, and select the external providers AppZen integrates with
Build the evaluation criteria used to select payment partners, spanning capability, reliability, security/compliance, and commercial terms
Own payment integrations end-to-end, partnering closely with engineering and provider teams from architecture through production
Design the end-to-end payment experience — from an approved financial obligation through execution, monitoring, and reconciliation
Define how AI-driven automation extends safely into payment execution, working within enterprise controls such as authorization, approval thresholds, and fraud prevention
Translate complex enterprise payment requirements into product capabilities that scale across customers rather than one-off implementations
Partner with Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to take new capabilities from concept through customer adoption
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of product management experience, including meaningful time focused on payments, fintech, or payment infrastructure
Direct, hands-on experience building or integrating B2B payment capabilities into a software product
Experience evaluating and selecting payment processors, banks, networks, or other payment infrastructure providers
Experience taking at least one payment product or integration from concept through production launch
Strong understanding of core payment lifecycle concepts — authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling
Comfortable working directly with engineering and provider technical teams on complex, API-driven integrations
Strong product judgment, including the ability to make build-versus-partner decisions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
Nice to Have:
Experience with cross-border or multi-currency payment infrastructure
Background at a payment processor, card issuer, bank, or embedded finance/payments platform
Experience integrating payments with ERP, AP, procurement, or expense systems
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Benefits:
Competitive salary and bonus or variable incentive pay (role-dependent)
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
Unlimited PTO
Paid parental leave (eligible employees)
401(k) match
$250 annual learning & development reimbursement
Onsite gym access for HQ (San Jose) employees
Office perks: snacks, happy hours, and company events
Note: Benefits apply to full-time employees only
