Job description

Our Mission

You call. You wait. You call again. In every other part of your life, you book in seconds. In healthcare, you’re blocked.

We’re here to give power to the patient.

For nearly 20 years, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace - helping tens of millions of people find and book the care they need. Now, we’re going further: building our infrastructure beyond Zocdoc’s marketplace to power access to care wherever patients search, from provider websites and insurance directories to search engines, AI platforms, and more.

Healthcare still lacks something every other major consumer industry takes for granted: a seamless way to go from seeking to getting. We don’t want to own the front door to care; there isn't one. We want to make sure all of those doors open when patients are knocking.

Fixing healthcare starts with fixing access to it. And we're still just getting started.

Your Impact on our Mission

As a Senior Product Designer at Zocdoc, you will play a crucial role in driving the user experience and design direction on one of our most impactful products. You’ll be responsible for leading design projects from ideation to implementation and contributing to the overall growth and success of the design team. With your expertise, creativity, and leadership skills, you will help shape the future of healthcare technology and directly influence the way healthcare providers reach patients searching for care.

You’ll enjoy this role if you are…

  • Passionate about creating user-centered designs that have a real impact on people's lives.
  • Excited to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence product strategy and direction.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you can drive meaningful change.

Your day to day is…

  • Leading and successfully delivering design projects of significant scope, ambiguity, and complexity, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Designing and iterating quickly to support product decisions, executive reviews, and dynamic problem spaces.
  • Communicating design rationale clearly and persuasively to cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
  • Tackling complex workflows and data-rich experiences, translating them into intuitive, usable interfaces.
  • Acting as a design leader within the team, bringing valuable insights and perspectives to design crits and cross-functional meetings.
  • Staying up to date with the latest design and research trends, tools, and best practices, incorporating them into your work.
  • Contributing to the development of design and research guidelines and standards, ensuring their adherence throughout the process.

You’ll be successful in this role if you have…

  • 5+ years of experience as a product designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating strong craft, clear thinking, and business impact.
  • BA/BS degree in design, a related field (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), or equivalent practical experience
  • A proven ability to operate effectively with senior stakeholders and incorporate feedback into high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong instincts for high-quality iterations, especially in fast-moving contexts.
  • Experience designing for consumer marketplace, complex workflows, ads or marketing tooling for B2B a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and articulation of design decisions.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of mentoring and guiding junior designers.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, capable of leading and delivering on projects of various scopes.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, research methodologies, visual design, and interaction design best practices.
  • A life-long learner mentality with a growth mindset

Benefits:

  • Flexible, hybrid work environment at our convenient San Jose location
  • Unlimited Vacation
  • 100% paid employee health benefit options (including medical, dental, and vision)
  • Commuter Benefits
  • 401(k) with employer funded match
  • Corporate wellness programs with Headspace and Peloton
  • Sabbatical leave (for employees with 5+ years of service)
  • Competitive paid parental leave and fertility/family planning reimbursement
  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • Employee Resource Groups and ZocClubs to promote shared community and belonging
  • Great Place to Work Certified
