Job description

At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.

WHOOP is hiring a Senior Lead, Advanced Design to shape the future vision of the Accessories & Apparel product ecosystem by developing innovative concepts that look 1–5 years beyond the inline product roadmap. Reporting to the Associate Creative Director, Accessories & Apparel, you will lead the exploration of emerging technologies, materials, constructions, and product experiences across bands, accessories, and apparel. This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role for a designer who combines conceptual thinking with strong execution, independently drives projects from early exploration through proof of concept, and creates scalable innovations that influence future commercial products and elevate the WHOOP member experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop forward-looking concepts across WHOOP bands, accessories, and apparel that inform the long-term product vision and future member experience.

  • Explore emerging technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and wearable solutions to identify and develop breakthrough product opportunities.

  • Translate member insights, cultural trends, and technology advancements into future product platforms by identifying white-space opportunities that shape innovation strategy.

  • Rapidly visualize, prototype, and validate concepts through sketching, CAD, 3D modeling, renderings, and proof-of-concept prototypes to accelerate learning and decision-making.

  • Partner closely with Accessories & Apparel Design, Industrial Design, Material Development, Product Management, Engineering, and external partners to evolve concepts into commercially viable product opportunities.

  • Communicate future product visions through compelling storytelling, presentations, prototypes, and design narratives that inspire cross-functional alignment and drive innovation.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 6+ years of experience in product design, industrial design, apparel design, wearable technology, advanced concept design, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative physical product concepts from early exploration through functional prototypes using sketching, CAD, visualization, and hands-on making.

  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and product construction, with the ability to translate exploratory concepts into products suitable for commercial development.

  • Experience collaborating effectively across Industrial Design, Material Development, and Product Management in a highly cross-functional environment.

  • Exceptional visual communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to clearly articulate future product visions through presentations, renderings, prototypes, and design narratives.

  • Portfolio demonstrating concept-driven design, creative exploration, rapid prototyping, and thoughtful execution across physical products.

  • Self-starter with strong conceptual thinking skills, capable of independently driving innovation projects from early exploration through proof of concept while balancing multiple priorities with creativity, curiosity, and initiative.

  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.
