- Thereâs 100+ of us around the UK with our HQ in Leeds.
- Our software is award-winning and used by 100,000s of students at over 800 universities & colleges worldwide.
- Weâre growing so we can achieve our mission to support 1 million students to become better learners by 2026.
Join our growing team as a Senior Data Analyst at Genio!
This is an initial 12-month FTC covering a period of maternity leave, but you will be supported with any career growth and development during that time.
As a Senior Data Analyst at Genio, youâll play a key part in helping us level up our data maturity journey. Youâll turn raw data into powerful insights, build out visualisations, and help us understand how our users interact with our product. Most importantly, youâll champion a culture of data-driven decision making across the business.
Meet the team:
Youâll be joining the Technology function, made up of Engineering, Product, Product Marketing, UX, Customer Experience and Data â all working closely together in cross-functional squads to build the best product for our users. Youâll work closely with Data Engineers, fellow Analysts, and teams across the business like Customer Experience, Learning, and Engineering. Youâll report into our Head of Data and be part of the Data teamâs mission to empower everyone at Genio to use data with confidence and clarity.
To give you an idea of who you may work closely with:
- Phil - Head of Data, toddler wrangler, and sports enthusiast
- Matt - Senior Analytics Engineer, enjoys funky bass line and gifs, occasionally makes ice cream
- Emma - Senior Data Analyst, dog lover, and in the middle of a house renovation
- Alex - Data Engineer, loves Krav Maga, furious knitter
- Nathan - Data Scientist, AI and cooking enthusiast
What youâll be doing:
- Analyse & Visualise: Create both regular and ad-hoc reports using data visualisation tools to help us make better decisions.
- Tell stories with data: Share interesting and impactful insights that help teams understand whatâs working and whatâs not.
- Champion data tools: Help drive the adoption of data platforms across Genio, and support teams in getting the most from it.
- Model & Maintain: Use dbt to model data and maintain reporting schemas in Databricks.
- Collaborate & Connect: Work closely with teams across Genio to ensure weâre using the right data in the right ways.
- Keep it clean: Partner with Data Engineers to make sure our data is accurate, consistent, and well-structured.
- Promote best practice: Support others in how they use and visualise data, and help maintain high standards of quality and consistency.
About you:
- Youâre experienced in SQL, dbt, and ideally experienced with Databricks (or similar tools).
- You bring hands-on experience and practical know-how, shaped by real-world projects rather than just time on the clock.
- Youâre great at bridging the gap between teams, with a knack for explaining technical stuff in a way that makes sense to everyone.
- Youâve used data visualisation tools (Tableau/Looker/Power BI etc.) with a strong ability to turn complex data into clear, engaging visuals.
- You have a strong understanding of the importance of clean, reliable data and how to maintain it.
- Youâre comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across various teams.
- Youâre committed to quality, consistency, and promoting effective data use.
- Youâre naturally curious and pragmatic, with a drive to uncover the âwhyâ behind the numbers.
Not every one of the above is essential, but hopefully it gives an idea of what we find useful day to day.
