See more about our culture on https://mistral.ai/careers.Role SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to support Mistral AI’s GDPR compliance strategy by being the product and engineering teams' closest partner and advisor, and drafting compliance documentation.The legal team currently comprises 6 persons across Paris and Palo Alto, covering a spectrum of competences across regulatory, IP, contracts and corporate.Key responsibilitiesSupport Mistral AI’s GDPR compliance• Manage Mistral AI’s compliance documentation (records of processing of personal data, data privacy impact assessments, internal policies, etc.)• Answer and manage data subject requests; Implement GDPR processes and automation• Manage employee training on privacy topics• Negotiate DPAs with Mistral AI’s providers and customers• Monitor privacy regulations and supervisory authorities guidance or decisionsAdvise other teams on privacy topics• Advise the product team on privacy topics concerning new features• Answer privacy-related questions from other teams• Update the compliance documentation accordinglyQualifications and skills• Background : Master degree in law, a bar admission is a plus, as well as an experience in a fast-growing environment• Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in a law firm or in a tech company, in IT law and specifically in privacy law and GDPR compliance• Knowledge of privacy law: The candidate has a good knowledge of privacy regulations and guidance from national supervisory authorities as well as the EDPB• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence: An understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and their applications is essential• Solution oriented approach: The ideal candidate should be able to identify compliance issues and develop effective strategies to address and resolve them. They should be capable of implementing practical solutions• Project management: The candidate has good project management skills• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex legal and technical issues related to AI and to identify potential legal risks and solutions is important. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have strong problem-solving skills• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication; Strong ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Business oriented• International mindset: An international experience is a plus• Adaptability: Given the rapidly evolving nature of AI technologies and the legal landscape surrounding them, candidates should be adaptable and willing to continuously learn and update their skills and knowledge. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
