Join the power movement as Power Business Research and Analytics Manager
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is moving fusion power out of the laboratory and onto the grid. We are at a critical inflection point, and this is a rare opportunity to join the foundational team that will commercialize the world’s first fusion power plants.
In this role, you will apply rigorous analysis to the commercialization of fusion power within the broader context of the evolving U.S. and global electric power sectors. You will develop specialized subject matter expertise on critical drivers of the urgent transition to fusion energy—including commercial deal structuring, scaling a new technology, and how our fusion technology integrates into future energy markets. Working alongside world-class leaders in the premier private fusion enterprise, you will gain unmatched visibility into the commercial mechanics establishing this new industry.

What you'll do:
Operational Analysis:
Lead quantitative and qualitative analyses to to support the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Power Business teams
Establish governance processes and tracking mechanisms to ensure the team executes efficiently on project timelines
Produce high-integrity work with strong attention to detail and limited supervision - deliverables may include memos, talking points, slide decks, excel models, and customer briefing materials
Customer-Centric Support:
Support customer and partner engagements by preparing tailored briefing materials
Participating in stakeholder meetings
Help manage early-stage customer onboarding and project development activities
Translate complex technical information into clear business implications, risks, decision points, and recommended actions
Contribute to a continuously improving stakeholder experience when engaging with CFS
Energy Policy, Utility Regulatory, and Energy Market Research:
Work with Government Affairs to monitor, analyze, and synthesize regulatory developments, utility tariffs, interconnection processes, and local/federal clean energy policies to identify business implications and support strategic decision-making
Conduct market intelligence, competitive assessments, and benchmarking to inform strategic decision-making
Work with our Government Affairs teams to support the development of testimony and energy policy documents - this includes conducting research, networking with subject matter experts, drafting briefing papers, and providing analytical support to ensure our commercial strategy is well-represented in key policy forums and industry initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner seamlessly with the existing fusion economics, engineering, marketing and comms, government affairs, and legal teams by gathering required market data, providing operational insights, and ensuring fluid information exchange across the enterprise
Scalable Business Systems:
Design and optimize scalable business development workflows and implement technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to drive operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness
Executive Communications:
Develop, format, and refine executive-level presentations, proposals, and decision-support materials
What we're looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline
5 years of pre- or post-MBA professional experience in energy markets, business development, financial analysis, consulting, or project financeExceptional project management skills and written/verbal communication skills
Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and engage with individuals at all organizational levels
Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in English, both verbally and in writing
Strong capabilities in regulatory research, data synthesis, and operational reporting
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint (executive presentations)
Exceptional problem-solving abilities
Bonus points for:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree
Experience in state public utility commission filings, PMP certification, proficiency with project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera P6), and GIS applications
Experience within the clean energy transition, independent power generation, electric utilities, or working with large corporate energy buyers
Familiarity with wholesale power markets (e.g., ISOs/RTOs), power generation economics, or energy transition technologies
Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, execution, risk management, and measurable business impact
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI), project management software, or CRM platforms
Must-have requirements:
Perform activities such as typing, standing, and sitting, for extended periods of time
Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call - this position will require up to 10% travel
Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
