
Blackbird Interactive is looking for a Lead Environment Artist to join our team and continue developing a AAA Sci-fi action title.
Working under the supervision of an Art Director, you’ll be training and leading a group of seven environment, level and lighting artists to create immersive environments in an existing IP.
We’re looking for someone with previous experience leading an environment art team, with the ideal candidate having an excellent game development sense, strong understanding of environment production workflows, solid people skills, and ability to build content development gameplans.
In addition to leading your team and providing feedback, this role requires a hands-on approach, either in supporting your team to learn the pipeline or as an individual contributor creating assets.
Provide both hands-on support and documentation to team learning and adapting to an existing art pipeline, in both asset creation and implementation.
Manage scope and provide detailed feedback for a range of artist sub-disciplines.
Foster a collaborative team environment that is creative and supportive.
Provide research and reference materials to help drive visual development of AAA quality assets.
5+ years of industry experience
2+ Lead environment artist experience
Experience working in proprietary game engine
Ability to create AAA quality 3D production assets (Zbrush, Maya) and Substance materials (Painter, Designer)
Effective communicator with an ability to work collaboratively cross-discipline, experience with Art Directors
