Internships at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are hourly roles designed for students who are currently enrolled at a four-year university.As an Intern, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems — we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority. Many past interns have designed and tested hardware/software that is heading to space on our first satellite, and many of them are now full-time employees at Astranis.If you have already graduated from a four-year university, please apply to be an Associate Engineer.Role:
- Work with the harnessing design team on designing flight and test harnessing
- Create wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings of spacecraft harnessing
- Work with cross-functional teams to define interfaces between different subsystems
- Use CAD programs to route harnessing in 3D
- Utilize EE fundamentals to select appropriate design components based on various requirements like voltage, power, frequency, and data-rate
- Work with production to fabricate in-house cables
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in mechatronics or electrical engineering (or equivalent technical degree)
- Interest in learning about, designing, and working with various spacecraft systems and subsystems
- Familiar with power and data transmission concepts
Bonus:
- Experience with Zuken (or other harness design software)
- Experience with various connectors and wire types including MIL circular and D-Sub/microD
- Experience with 3D CAD software like Solidworks
