Full-Stack Software Engineer (Mid - Staff) - 8VC

We are seeking to connect with Full-Stack Software Engineers for roles within our portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, with an entrepreneurial mindset who are passionate about early-stage development, seeking swift career growth, or aspiring to establish their own company in the future. As a generalist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining various software applications, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and secure.

What You’ll Do

• Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code for both front-end and back-end components of web applications.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance application functionality and interoperability with external systems
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure software architectures.
• Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and deployment pipelines.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical insights.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior developers.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues.

Who You Are

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• You have 3+ years of experience in full-stack development 
• You have proven experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js), back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, Ruby) and with database design and management (MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
• You have a solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• You're proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• You have strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• You’re familiar with version control systems (e.g., Git).
