About this role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the mechanical industry, with experience preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of projects. This role plays a key part in the pre-construction phase, helping to ensure the financial and strategic success of our projects.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs using historical data and current market trends.
- Utilize estimating software to streamline the estimating process and improve accuracy.
- Develop scope of work narratives and identify inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents to ensure comprehensive coverage of project requirements.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and RFIs to gather critical project information.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to provide cost data, clarifications, and technical input during project handoff and execution phases.
- Communicate with clients and general contractors to clarify scope, answer questions, and ensure alignment on bid expectations.
- Work closely with internal departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and lead times.
- Maintain strong working relationships to support timely and competitive bids
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mechanical industry, with a focus on estimating.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
- Proficiency in estimating software and project management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
