Job Summary
The Director of Indirect Procurement is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for approximately $50M in indirect spend across areas such as logistics, professional services, facilities, travel, telecommunications, and IT. This position leads a team of Category Managers and partners closely with Finance, IT, R&D, Marketing, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, manage risk, and ensure reliable service delivery. The role oversees supplier selection, contract negotiations, spend management processes, scorecards, and strategic sourcing initiatives while building strong supplier relationships and delivering measurable business value. The ideal candidate is an experienced procurement leader with a proven track record in strategic sourcing, complex contract negotiations, team development, and implementing procurement best practices in a fast-paced, global organization.
Position Overview:
Global Procurement is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to assure supply and achieve best value. It includes category and commodity management strategies with goals of achieving significant cost reductions, improving product quality, and improving vendor service levels, while guaranteeing material and service supply to a fast-growing business.
The Director of Indirect Procurement leads a team of Category managers and strategic sourcing activities for indirect spend. With an emphasis on managing suppliers of logistics services, professional services, facilities, travel and entertainment, telecommunications, and information technology. Total spend under management is ~$50M and the position requires the experience to lead, develop and to build best-in-class procurement capabilities and internal spend-management procedures in a fast-paced organization.
Working closely with stakeholders in Finance, Logistics, Marketing, IT, R&D, and Global Supply Chain, this position develops sourcing strategies to achieve business objectives and works with suppliers to execute these strategies. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, execute contracts and contract amendments, achieve new pricing agreements, serve as the single point of contact for providing suppliers with direction, develop and maintain supplier scorecards, and develop internal spend management procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Utilize strategic sourcing process to identify, negotiate and implement indirect procurement initiatives to drive cost savings.
• Guide Functional groups in discovery, contract negotiation, optimizing economic value, on-time delivery of product & services, cost management & reduction, supplier & partner risk mitigation, and scope of work development
• Influence key stakeholders for each element of indirect spend to ensure that business objectives are achieved by the recommended sourcing strategy
• Manage performance against contract terms and recommend courses of action to rectify discrepancies.
• Develop, implement and enforce appropriate internal spend management procedures
• Drive and deliver cost saving opportunities aligned with organization commitments
• Develop and implement a supplier scorecard to track and rate part quality, supply performance, cost improvements, and innovation support
• Bring should-cost modeling capabilities to Insulet for key elements of indirect spend (e.g. professional services, freight)
• Lead contract negotiations with primary and secondary suppliers. Ability to complete first pass contract reviews and make recommendations for negotiation strategies with key stakeholders.
• Lead the cross functional team that engages with suppliers on issues and continuous improvement
• Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market experts; identifying and communicating new technologies and solutions to Company’s key problems in the assigned spend areas
• Hire, Develop and Manage Indirect category team
• Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
• 15+ years of indirect procurement experience, at least 5+ of which were spent in a management position
• Bachelor’s degree Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Administration
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
• Demonstrated success in performing spend analysis, managing the entire RFQ, RFP process, and negotiating and managing large, complex contracts in corporate environment
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies that have yielded measurable business results
• Experience leading multicultural teams in a global and complex environment
• Outstanding team player who seeks and values diverse input to hone ideas, but who has the experience to develop strong starting proposals
• Able to quickly understand the business requirements and identify sourcing strategies that clearly deliver business requirements while achieving cost saving targets
• Appreciates the value of timelines and enjoys working in the focused environment that they create
• Flexible, experienced negotiator, with the ability to see the picture clearly from both sides and select the approach best suited to the situation at hand.

Compensation & Benefits:
For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $161,600.00 - $242,375.00
This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
