The role

The Analytics Director leads an analytics sub-department made up of multiple squads. You manage, mentor, and motivate the team; align them with collaborators across data science, engineering, product, clinical, and market operations; and create a data strategy that treats data as a key asset — fostering data-informed decision-making through scalable, product-first analytics.

Responsibilities

• Technical capability — Steward the sub-department's technical direction and standards (dbt, semantic models, CI/CD), advise on resilient and scalable solutions, and ensure the teams beneath you are building on a sound, modern foundation.
• Collaboration within the Tech org — Partner with Tech leadership across engineering, data science, and product to integrate analytics into product development and One Tech planning, and to secure the infrastructure and prioritization your teams need.
• Cross-functional (non-Tech) collaboration — Balance interests and requirements across Data, Engineering, Finance, Actuary, Clinical, and Market Operations; align stakeholders and your teams on tight scopes; and protect the speed and integrity of decision-making across competing demands.
• AI-native ways of working — Champion AI-first ways of working across the sub-department, including conversational analytics, and create the conditions — investment, expectations, air cover — for teams to adopt them at scale.
• Project management & stewardship — Own delivery and data governance across multiple squads, driving a high rate of adoption for data-driven recommendations and sound governance within the team and across the organization.
• Mentorship, influence & leadership — Be an engaging data ambassador who educates the organization at all levels on what's possible, shifts the culture toward complete analytics through guidance and storytelling, and elevates the value of data well beyond Analytics.
• People leadership & management — Manage, engage, and grow the analysts and managers of a sub-department; foster an inclusive, high-performing culture; and develop the leaders beneath you.
• Strategy (beyond technical) — Create and steward a data strategy that cultivates and utilizes data as a key asset, identifying opportunities to meaningfully use first- and third-party data across Cityblock.
• Roadmap & vision setting — Set the sub-department's roadmap, align it with One Tech prioritization, and ensure your teams are pointed at the highest-value work.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing teams of eight or more, with ownership over high-visibility products and engagements of varied scale.
• 8+ years of experience in data-centric work (including the management experience above), a portion running a business-intelligence platform.
• Experience across business intelligence, data governance, and master data management.
• Working fluency with the modern analytics stack (dbt, SQL, semantic models, BigQuery/Looker) and AI-enabled ways of working, sufficient to set direction.
• Deep domain knowledge of healthcare (acuity, members) and healthcare insurance (claims, risk, eligibility, etc.).
