The Development Officer I/II (Fundraising & Partnerships) will support revenue generation efforts for the University of Louisville Athletic Department through major gifts fundraising, corporate partnerships, philanthropic giving, NIL fundraising initiatives, premium seating sales, and donor engagement activities. This position will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders to enhance financial support for Louisville Athletics and advance the goals of the Cardinal Athletic Fund.
The Development Officer I/II will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, develop and maintain meaningful relationships, and contribute to the achievement of assigned fundraising and revenue goals. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, this position will assist in developing and executing fundraising and partnership strategies that strengthen engagement and support for Louisville Athletics.
The successful candidate will be a motivated, relationship-focused professional with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The ability to cultivate relationships, manage competing priorities, and achieve results in a goal-oriented environment is essential, along with a commitment to advancing the mission of Louisville Athletics.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Development Officer I
- Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies, including building, managing, and soliciting a portfolio of major gift prospects.
- Solicit and secure donations of $10,000 or more to help support capital projects, annual scholarship requirements, sports-specific needs, and other projects.
- Execute premium seating and suite sales for Football and Men's Basketball.
- Achieve fundraising and premium seating and suite sales goals established by Athletic Development leadership.
- Manage a portfolio of an estimated 250 donors.
- Assist with cultivation and stewardship initiatives for the major gift donor base and assigned portfolio through special events and donor engagement opportunities.
- Local travel required to visit donors and attend off-campus meetings and events. Some overnight out-of-state travel may be required.
Development Officer II
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies across NIL, corporate partnerships, philanthropic giving, and premium seating to generate new revenue.
- Oversee a portfolio of donors and corporate partners, building relationships to secure new major gifts, fulfill pledged commitments, and renew season tickets and donations for Men's Basketball and Football.
- Secure new commitments for premium seating at the KFC Yum! Center and L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, including suites, floor seats, premium boxes, and club seats.
- Lead and support donor cultivation, stewardship initiatives, and special events to strengthen donor engagement and retention.
- Assist with Cardinal Athletic Fund special projects and initiatives as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- Two (2) years of fundraising or sales experience within collegiate athletics for the Development Officer I (Assistant Director) level; three (3) years for the Development Officer II (Associate Director) level.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience using Salesforce CRM.
- Experience using Ticketmaster Archtics or similar ticketing systems.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
