The Opportunity
The Cost Accounting Manager will serve as the financial anchor for our manufacturing and supply chain operations. This role will own all aspects of inventory accounting, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), standard costing, and margin analysis. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can bridge the gap between finance and operations, optimize our ERP system, and implement robust financial controls over inventory.

A Day in the Life

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting: Lead month/quarter-end close for inventory and COGS, including journal entries, reconciliations, and executive reporting.
Cost Accounting & Analysis: Manage annual standard cost roll-ups, ERP updates, and monthly manufacturing variance analysis (PPV, labor, overhead, usage) to drive operational insights.
Reserves & Accruals: Calculate and maintain E&O inventory reserves, warranty reserves, and supply chain accruals.
Inventory Control & Audit Compliance: Oversee physical counts and cycle counting across warehouses and contract manufacturers; design internal controls for SOX compliance and lead auditor requests.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership: Partner with Operations, Engineering, and R&D on margin expansion, cost reductions, and NPI cost/BOM modeling.
ERP & Systems Optimization: Act as inventory module SME, collaborating with IT to automate workflows and enhance data accuracy.


Skills and Experience
 

Required:

  • Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years explicitly focused on cost accounting in a manufacturing environment (Medical Device, Life Sciences, or Hardware experience is highly preferred).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of US GAAP, inventory valuation methods, and standard costing principles.
  • Systems: Advanced proficiency in Excel and hands-on experience with top-tier ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite,
  • Exceptional analytical skills, strong cross-functional communication abilities, and a proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
