Job description

Veda builds vault infrastructure for DeFi at scale. We manage Billions in total value locked across 15+ blockchain networks, powering yield strategies for partners including Kraken, Etherfi, MetaMask and Plasma. Our protocol turns complex multi-chain DeFi positions into simple vault interfaces that institutional and retail users can actually trust.

We seek individuals with high agency to join us in defining the next phase of DeFi growth and adoption. The ideal candidate takes ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and adapts swiftly to evolving demands.

THE ROLE

As a Backend Engineer focused on Solana, you will help build secure DeFi products across on-chain programs and the backend systems that support them. You will work on protocol integrations, transaction infrastructure, product APIs, and production operations. This is a hands-on role combining smart contract engineering, backend development, and applied security for systems that manage real assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build, and maintain Solana programs and backend services that power Veda’s DeFi products.

  • Own features end to end, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.

  • Integrate third-party DeFi protocols and infrastructure, evaluating technical and economic risks and maintaining those integrations as external systems evolve.

  • Build reliable APIs, data pipelines, SDKs, and internal tools that connect on-chain functionality with user-facing products and operational workflows.

  • Design for security and financial correctness, including clear trust boundaries, safe state transitions, access control, precision, reconciliation, and recovery from partial failures.

  • Improve the scalability, reliability, performance, and developer experience of our Solana platform.

  • Develop comprehensive automated tests, participate in security reviews and audits, and drive findings through remediation and production verification.

  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, research, and external partners while documenting important technical decisions and operational procedures.

YOU HAVE

  • Strong professional experience with Rust and the ability to reason about security-critical systems code.

  • Deep knowledge of Solana and the SVM, including its account model, transaction lifecycle, token standards, performance constraints, and common security considerations.

  • Experience building Solana programs and the backend services or SDKs that configure, invoke, index, or operate them.

  • Experience designing and operating production APIs and distributed services in a language such as Python or TypeScript.

  • Strong DeFi fundamentals, including vaults, lending, trading, liquidity, fees, pricing, and cross-chain systems.

  • A security mindset and experience building systems that handle real money, with careful attention to correctness, auditability, and incident response.

  • Strong testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end environments, including working with real external dependencies.

  • High agency and clear communication. You can turn an ambiguous problem into a reviewed design, incremental implementation, production rollout, and durable handoff.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE

  • Production experience with Anchor, native Solana development, and the Solana token ecosystem.

  • A track record of deploying, auditing, or maintaining smart contracts that secure meaningful value.

  • Experience integrating with major Solana DeFi protocols or building vault, lending, trading, staking, or bridge products.

  • Knowledge of EVM smart contracts or cross-chain systems.

  • Experience with secure key management, multisig or custody workflows, and institutional blockchain infrastructure.

  • Experience with cloud-native services, event-driven systems, containers, deployment pipelines, and production observability.

  • Contributions to open-source blockchain infrastructure or comfort using modern agentic development tools without weakening engineering judgment.

WHAT YOU’LL WALK INTO

We’re a 35-person team that has raised $18M at Series A. Veda’s infrastructure is already running in production and supporting billions in TVL, and Solana is an important area of continued investment. You’ll help expand our capabilities, strengthen reliability and security, and make the platform easier for the team to extend as the business grows. The work is highly collaborative, ownership-focused, and close to both product and protocol design.

COMPENSATION

Competitive base salary plus equity. We’re a Series A company heading toward Series B, early enough that your equity is meaningful, late enough that the business is real.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
