Job description

Company Overview: brightfin is the AI-powered Financial Management Intelligence Platform for Enterprise IT, helping Fortune 500 and mid-market CFOs, CIOs, and IT finance teams understand, govern, and optimize technology spend across telecom, FinOps, and IT asset management. Our customers include large healthcare systems, financial institutions, and global enterprises — organizations where data security and trust are non-negotiable.

Job Summary: As an AI Automation Engineer, you will architect and build automation solutions that combine RPA/workflow automation (UiPath, Power Automate) with AI/LLM capabilities (agentic workflows, document intelligence, RAG). You will own solutions end-to-end — from design through deployment and monitoring — and serve as Tier 3 escalation support for complex automation issues. This is an individual-contributor role focused on hands-on delivery; it does not carry mentoring or people-management responsibilities.

Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities:

- Architect and build automation solutions integrating RPA tools (UiPath, Power Automate, or similar) with AI/LLM capabilities (agentic workflows, document intelligence, NLP, RAG)

- Participate in technical discovery with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions

- Own the automation lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and optimization

- Serve as Tier 3/escalation support for complex automation incidents and production issues

- Evaluate, pilot, and integrate emerging AI tools (LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks, vector databases) into the automation stack

- Build and maintain APIs, connectors, and integrations between automation platforms, internal systems, and third-party services

- Follow and contribute to best practices for automation development, including code review, testing, and security/compliance requirements

- Monitor performance, reliability, and ROI of deployed automations; identify opportunities for optimization

- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and process workflows

- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, data, security, and business teams

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience

- 3+ years of experience in automation engineering, software development, or related roles, including hands-on work with RPA platforms (UiPath, Power Automate, Automation Anywhere, or similar)

- Demonstrated experience integrating AI/LLM technologies (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, or similar) into production automation workflows

- Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages (Python, C#, or JavaScript)

- Experience with API integration, REST/SOAP web services, and system-to-system connectivity

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, including prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, and agentic workflow design

- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and their AI/automation service offerings

- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data manipulation; experience with SQL and structured/unstructured data

- Ability to architect scalable, secure, and maintainable automation solutions

- Strong stakeholder communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

- Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment

- Effective written and verbal communication

- Commitment to continuous learning in automation and AI technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with vector databases, RAG architectures, or multi-agent systems

- Familiarity with process mining tools and automation governance frameworks

- Relevant certifications (UiPath, Microsoft Power Platform, AI/ML certifications)
