Layer is an embedded accounting startup aiming to replace Quickbooks by integrating accounting and bookkeeping tools directly into platforms used by small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Founded in 2023 by Justin Meretab, a former product leader at Square, and Daniel O'Neel, a former engineering leader at Wealthfront, Layer provides APIs that allow platform customers to pass financial data from SMBs to Layer's system.
