Ummet clinical need: According to a 2017 FDA safety notification, the failure (of surgical navigation systems) to adequately track changes in the position of patient anatomy during surgery (''intra-operative shift'') has led to “patient deaths, serious and life-threatening injuries, and failed, aborted, and prolonged medical procedures''. Despite recent progress, there remains a fundamental lack of real-time, location-correct imaging data. Advanced Scanners has invented the world’s first device (a patented optical scanning platform) that can surface map patient anatomy in real-time, without contact or harmful radiation. We are one of the very few companies addressing this issue and developing commercial solutions across a spectrum of applications to enable the next generation of image-guided navigation, robotic, and AI-enhanced interventions.
