Position Overview:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring accurate and efficient movement and tracking of materials—from the moment they enter inventory to their delivery to the production line, and occasionally their return. In this role, you will gain a deep understanding of material flow within the production plant, assist in identifying process gaps, and support the Manager of Materials & Logistics in driving continuous improvements.
You will directly supervise multiple team members, including inventory specialists and material movers, making your leadership and problem-solving skills critical to the success of the department. Your ability to collaborate and support your team will play a key role in achieving Velo3D’s operational goals.
Responsibilities
Lead by example to foster a positive, collaborative team culture
Identify and correct safety hazards; coach and document safe work practices
Supervise daily warehouse operations and staff
Ensure timely processing of receipts and escalate issues as needed
Prioritize and fulfill work and sales orders based on deadlines
Manage inventory movement between storage locations based on demand
Maintain high inventory accuracy and improve processes continuously
Enforce operational procedures for shipments, materials handling, and inventory control
Inspect warehouse and equipment; coordinate repairs with vendors
Report escalated issues to management
Oversee shipping, receiving, and cycle counts
Train new employees and reassess ongoing training needs
Coordinate staffing to meet workload demands
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
Promote open communication, teamwork, and constructive feedback
Use customer feedback to improve service and relationships
Recognize employee contributions and motivate team performance
Set clear goals, provide direction, and hold team members accountable
Review and approve employee timecards; address attendance issues
Adapt to evolving business needs and responsibilities
Qualifications
High School Diploma is required. Associate degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or other related field is desirable.
6-8 years of experience in either a warehouse or distribution center environment; with experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
4 years experience managing people/projects; experience may include a combination of work experience and education
Experienced with ERP systems (NetSuite or SAP)
Familiar with scanners and their effective utilization in a warehouse environment
Strong understanding of inventory control principles and best practices.
Understands the concepts of process consistency and waste minimization
Effectively communicate team and individual expectations and follows up appropriately
